Job Synopsis
The Receiver - Driver/Warehouse Worker is available on an ongoing basis for the driving the delivery truck for pick-ups, deliveries and general warehouse tasks at the Thrift Shop. This position will act as the main driver in the absence of the Warehouse Coordinator.

- Experience in Shipping and Receiving or warehouse management an asset.
- Self-motivated and willing to take initiative, while at the same time responding to the directions of the Warehouse Coordinator, and willingness to work as a team with other staff and volunteers.
- Firm commitment to accountability and reliability.
- Strong interpersonal skills; willing and able to work with a variety of people; friendly, outgoing, appreciative, and respectful of volunteers.
- Physical stamina, ability to lift up to 100 lbs.
- Requires >5 hours of intermittent standing or walking in a regular shift.
- Ability to repeatedly bend or stoop to floor level shelves and be able to reach upper shelves with use of a stool or ladder.
- Valid AB Driver’s License, which includes 2+ years' experience in Canda.
- Incumbent is on their feet all day.
- Customer service skills.
Key Responsibilities

Play a key role in day to day receiving & distributing of items at the back door.

Provide excellent customer service to all customers and donors.
-
Assist the Warehouse Coordinator in the pick-up and delivery of furniture and other donations.
-
In the absence of the Warehouse Coordinator, drive the company delivery van, practice safe driving and respect for fellow commuters.

Schedule pick-ups and deliveries as required by the Warehouse Coordinator.

Perform furniture pickups and deliveries efficiently and with respect for donor homes/business.
-
Answer donor questions at point of contact, assess furniture for value and inform donor of decisions regarding donatable items based on inventory control best practices.

Assist in the processing of electronics and hardware items.

Process furniture upon arrival to the Shop, includes refinish and repair of furniture as needed and placement of furniture on the retail floor.

Maintain the logs for the delivery van and power tools used in the shop, scheduling maintenance as required.

Attending to requests from customers and volunteers.

General warehouse organization and cleanliness.

Any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.

Dress Code – must wear steel toed boots.
Health and Safety
- Adhere to Occupational Health & Safety legislation as established by law and the MCC Alberta.
- Act as the OH&S site representative on the MCCA Joint Worksite Health & Safety Committee and attend the regular meetings as scheduled.
- Ensure OH&S training records for all staff are maintained.
- Enroll in all OH&S training requirements identified by the MCCA OH&S Committee and OH&S AB Legislation.
- Be proactive in maintaining clean and safe work areas to help ensure the safety of staff, volunteers, and donors.

Base salary: $49,400

This position is physically demanding, requiring lifting of boxes and furniture. This position requires good mobility as the incumbent is expected to help at the backdoor as well as in the furniture department.
