Job Brief:
The Instrument Foreman, preferably a licensed journeyman, is a instrumentation tech with strong industrial/construction experience supervising crews. The Foreman has a continuous focus on safety, cost control, and client satisfaction. The Foreman works with other journeyman and apprentices, demonstrating your practical skills in the industry. You will test, calibrate, install, repair, and inspect manufacturing equipment and monitoring devices.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Runs small crews and plans out work with customers.
- Installs process control and measurement instrumentation on existing and new field equipment and processes (transmitters, controllers, analyzers, control valves, etc.).
- Performs mechanical work associated with instrument repair and modification; remove and install small piping and tubing.
- Rebuilds control valves and tune controllers.
- Performs preventative maintenance on instrumentation (calibration, replacement, and tests as required); maintains field instrument records and standards.
- Provides support to operations in process control.
- Uses pressure and or electrical test equipment to troubleshoot systems.
- Repairs and adjusts system components (sensors, transmitters, programmable logic controllers, etc.); remove and replace defective parts.
- Installs and repairs chemical pumps.
- Reads and understands P&ID drawings.
- Uses ERP system (IFS Aurena Tech Portal) to complete daily work tickets.
- Manages warehouse inventory monthly reports.
- Mentor and train apprentices, complete on-the-job training documents for junior technicians.
- On-call support as required.
- Participation/compliance with company safety programs & company policies.
- Other duties as required.
Required Skills/Qualifications:
- Journeyman Instrumentation required.
- 7+ years’ experience as an instrumentation technician.
- Technical training or experience in oil and gas processes required.
- Construction experience required.
- Supervisory experience required.
- Experience with low voltage electrical and ability to run cable and cable tray are an asset.
- Able to bend stainless tubing.
- Experience with various types of RTUs and PLCs is required with knowledge of ROC and ABB.
- Intermediate to advanced computer skills.
- First Aid/CPR w/ AED, OSHA 30, and Safeland, with preference for OSHA500.
- Successful completion of a pre-employment drug and alcohol test (required for safety-sensitive roles)
- Verification of a clean driving record, as defined by Control Tech’s standards
