Your contribution!

Dedicated GIS support for renewable energy projects located in North America.

Your day-to-day!

  • Provide project-level GIS management to the Innergex North American development team. The position will work within a skilled team of professionals compiling data and implementing GIS-based solutions to support the company’s greenfield development, acquisition, and construction efforts;
  • Responsible for GIS data gathering, review, creation, and organization to support the entire project life cycle: prospecting, land and title, design, energy assessment, permitting, engineering, construction, and operations;
  • Assist in turbine and panel layout and infrastructure design through GIS analysis and mapping;
  • Work with solar, wind and storage engineers to assess internal data requirements and provide support in multiple GIS formats;
  • Coordinate among internal engineers, developers, permitting specialists to guide deliverables from external consultants;
  • Ability to independently manage multiple assignments, determine and set job task priorities and work with limited direct supervision;
  • Develop maps and workflow tools for land management database system, including tools to optimize and track real estate used for project sites;
  • Work with the development, real estate, environmental and permitting, resource, and engineering groups to ensure that maps are current and accurate and that they reflect critical excluded areas and setbacks – collect, incorporate, organize and map community, environmental and other study information; create "buildable land" files from various land control and setback scenarios; create metadata to document and track these scenarios;
  • Facilitate among internal groups to organize GIS to be easily accessible and trackable through versioning and metadata;
  • Develop and document GIS workflows and tools, including online mapping, field data collection, and geoprocessing;
  • Edit GIS spatial and table data to be accurate and traceable;
  • Manage field data collection efforts;
  • Follow specific workflows for data cleaning and importing to internal systems.

Your skills, our requirements!

  • Bilingualism (French and English, written and spoken) is required for applicants in Quebec;
  • 5-7 years specific experience with ESRI ArcGIS software including ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Desktop, Spatial Analyst and data interoperability;
  • BS or BA Degree in GIS, geography, environmental studies or related field with demonstrated capabilities in GIS;
  • A Master’s may substitute for 1 year of experience;
  • Excellent organizational, problem-solving, technical writing and verbal communication skills;
  • Strong understanding of GIS applications and geodatabase functions, especially as applied to environmental and/or renewable energy development;
  • Competence to train teams in new tools, process, and workflow;
  • Ability to work with vector and raster datasets, including drone images, LIDAR and large aerials;
  • Ability to use and edit shapefiles and geodatabases;
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills;
  • Cartography skills with attention to layouts, colors, symbology and UI;
  • GIS Administration, data design and data management;
  • ArcGIS Online. Creating content, authoring maps and managing users and groups;
  • Familiarity with standard cartographic methods, theories and principles;
  • Experience working with different coordinate systems, map projections, and datums;
  • Experience working with GPS principles, data collection and ESRI Field Maps, an asset;
  • Renewable energy and/or environmental GIS experience, an asset;
  • Experience with Global Mapper, an asset;
  • CAD, specifically working with CAD data in ArcGIS, an asset;
  • Experience working with and managing surveyors for field data collection, an asset;
  • Model Builder, Python and Arcade experience, an asset;
  • ArcGIS Online and the ArcGIS online application suite (ArcGIS Dashboard, WebMap Applications, Web App Builder, Experience Builder, Dashboards, Map Viewer, Scene Viewer);
  • ArcGIS Mobile Applications (Field Map, Explorer, Collector, ArcGIS Earth);
  • GIS and CAD data in Google Earth, QGIS and Global Mapper;
  • Model Builder, Python, Python API for ArcGIS, SQL, Arcade, and Visual Basic;
  • CAD software (e.g.: AutoCAD including Civil 3D) and conversion to and from GIS formats;
  • GPS: Deploying and/or managing appropriately accurate GPS data collection. Creating Field Maps applications for data collection;
  • MS applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project);
  • Global Mapper;
  • Experience with ArcGIS Enterprise (Data Store, Portal, etc.), an asset.

  • The position can be based in the company's Longueuil (Quebec) headquarters.
  • This position is a P3C level.
