Reporting to the Comptroller, this position performs a variety of accounting functions and requires working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, financial computer software and First Nations government and its institutions.
Duties:
- Responsible for ensuring confidentiality with respect to all information obtained in the performance of duties
- Payment to suppliers and employees
- Ensuring purchase orders and invoices are matched up and properly approved prior to payment
- Maintenance of the filling system for the accounts payable area
- Ensuring travel and miscellaneous claims are correctly completed and properly approved prior to payment
- Preparing and processing all entries related to general payables
- Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
The successful candidate will have a Business Administration Certificate with an Accounting focus or an Accounting Certificate with six to nine months experience in an accounts payable position. A combination of education and experience will be considered.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of records and information
- Demonstrated ability to meet regular deadlines
- Ability to work independently with minimum supervision
- Strong organizational skills
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Proficiency in the use of personal computers and related software applications, such as Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access, Power Point, and Outlook).
- Ability to speak a First Nations language would be an asset
Salary Range: APT Pay Grade 2 ($29.81/hr - $40.01/hr)
