We're looking for a Caretaker, Trainee to join our team! Please note this is a temporary one-year term.

Job Summary

Reporting to the Manager of Facilities and Team Leader at the Inglewood Opportunity Hub, the Caretaker Trainee is an entry-level role focused on developing the skills needed to support the routine cleaning and minor maintenance of buildings and grounds at the Inglewood Opportunity Hub. Working under guidance and supervision, the Caretaker Trainee contributes to a safe, clean, and welcoming environment while ensuring diligence with the standards of the Health and Safety Management System at Wood’s Homes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Learn to identify and respond to both immediate and long-term cleaning and facility upkeep needs, including daily requirements at the Inglewood Opportunity Hub
  • Sweep, wet mop, and scrub floors
  • Strip, seal, wax, and polish floors under supervision
  • Remove waste material from the building
  • Wash walls, ceilings, and external windows
  • Maintain and care for office plants
  • Maintain a clean inventory of supplies and notify the supervisor when restocking is required
  • Attend facilities or IOH meetings as required
  • Complete all required health and safety training and apply learning on the job
  • Promptly report workplace hazards, unsafe or unhealthy conditions, or incidents (including near misses, injuries, or equipment damage) to a supervisor
  • Perform other related duties as assigned to support learning and team operations

Qualifications

Preferred Experience:

  • Completion of grade 10
  • Completion of certificates through LEAD or other employment programs
  • Involvement in one or more services at the Inglewood Opportunity Hub
  • Experience in building cleaning operations
