Registered Nurse – Rehabilitation (OS) – CASUAL

DEPARTMENT: REHABILITATION POSITION LOCATION: OWEN SOUND UNION AFFILIATION: ONA STATUS: CASUAL REASON TO POST: DIRECT REPLACEMENT WAGE RATE: $40.24 – $57.68 Reporting to the Manager or Rehabilitation and Grey Bruce Stroke Services. The responsibility of the Registered Nurse is the promotion of health and the assessment of, the provision of care of, and the treatment of health conditions by supportive, preventative, therapeutic and rehabilitative means to patients in order to attain, maintain or return to optimal function. This includes knowledge and application of Canadian best practice guidelines and principles.
Qualifications Required:
- Current Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario
- Physical Assessment course or equivalent
- Rehabilitation nursing experience within the last 3-5 years
- FIM (Functional Independence Measure) certification
- Neuro-Developmental Treatment certification (NDT)
- Demonstrated Experience using principles of adult education and knowledge translation
- Demonstrated knowledge and application of Canadian Stroke Best Practice Guidelines
- Venipunctures to establish an IV required
- IV medications below the drip chamber
- Central line care – including tubing, dressing change ,line removal and blood sampling
- Maintenance of TPN
- Self-directed and able to work with minimal supervision
- Ability to work effectively in an interprofessional care team to provide individualized patient care based on patient goals and diverse needs
- Knowledge and experience identifying and contributing to the care, development and implementation of rehabilitative goal based plan of care
- Excellent leadership, problem solving, decision making, organizational and interpersonal skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent interviewing and patient assessment skills
- Interest and experience in patient education and health promotion and prevention
- Commitment to continuous professional development and continuing education
- Participate in staff meetings and unit specific projects
- Recent satisfactory performance and attendance records
- Adherence to Brightshores ‘CARE’ Behaviours (Collaboration, Accountability, Respect, Excellence) and ‘LEAD’ Competencies (Lead by example, Empower, Achieve results, Develop others) and a commitment to a safe workplace free of violence and harassment
- Advocates and supports a culture of patient safety and demonstrates an understanding of how the department service and assigned responsibilities contribute to overall patient safety at Brightshores through patient safety knowledge, skills and attitudes
Preferred
- Baccalaureate Degree in nursing
- BCLS certification
- Additional education pertaining rehabilitation, rehabilitative care
- CNA Certification in Rehabilitation (CARN) or Neurology (CANN)
