About the role
Our client is a national not-for-profit organization that is seeking a personable and adaptive finance professional to join their team in a full-time capacity as a Senior Finance Officer. Reporting to the Director of Finance, the Senior Finance Officer will manage day-to-day accounting operations, provide financial analysis, and prepare timely reports to track performance and support strategic planning. This role works closely with budget holders to ensure financial policies are followed, and decisions are informed by accurate, actionable data. The ideal candidate thrives in a collaborative team environment. They are highly organized, attentive, and detail-oriented, with a strong ability to manage multiple priorities accurately and efficiently. In addition to their technical skills, they are exceptional at building positive relationships with colleagues and stakeholders. Main responsibilities include:
- Preparing and reviewing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, cashflow forecasts and budget tracking
- Supporting day-to-day receivables and payable functions, including posting, and reviewing journal entries
- Reviewing bank reconciliations and month-end entries (accruals, prepaids) for DOF approval
- Maintaining balance sheet reconciliations, revenue data integrity, fixed asset registers, and assisting with audit preparation and HST filings
- Reviewing monthly and annual branch financial information and membership fee reconciliations with branch staff
- Supporting ongoing improvements to financial systems, controls, and procedures
- Staying current on CRA rulings, HST regulations, and relevant accounting standards for not for not-for-profit organizations

Qualifications:
The main qualifications for this role include:
- Post-secondary education in finance and/or accounting
- Fluently bilingual – English/French
- Minimum 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including financial statement preparation and analysis
- Strong Excel skills
- Completed CPA designation considered an asset
- Non-Profit experience considered an asset
How You Will Be Rewarded:
- $75,000 - $90,000 annual salary range
