About the role
The Systems Design Engineer plays a pivotal role in developing new product concepts, evaluating concept in their early stages, and ensuring that these technologies meet user requirements while being optimized for manufacturability and serviceability.
This role serves as the critical link between all R&D functions and the broader organization, facilitating cross-functional collaboration and integration.
- At Systems level, design, development and integration of mass spectrometry hardware, firmware, software, with an emphasis on ICP-MS (Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometry).
- Work closely with electronics, mechanical, firmware, and software design engineers to create integrated mass spectrometer-based systems.
- Work closely with OEM supplier engineers on the design of specialized components of mass spectrometer-based systems.
- Assembly and testing of prototype ICP-MS systems and/or components
- Development of performance specifications and test procedures for mass spectrometry-based instrument systems.
- Support ICP-MS applications scientists and applications development.
- Preparation of internal technical reports and documentation.
- Assist transfer to production of successful prototype/R&D pilot designs, including training and support of production engineers.
- Development and maintenance of functional requirements for new product introduction projects.
