Are you an organized and visionary operations professional eager to support groundbreaking mental-health research and services for Canada’s public safety personnel? Join us as our new PSPNET Operations Manager!
The Public Safety Personnel Internet-delivered Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (PSPNET) team is located at the University of Regina funded by Public Safety Canada. The PSPNET team is led by Drs. Heather Hadjistavropoulos and Nick Carleton.
The team consists of both clinicians and researchers who are developing, implementing and evaluating Internet-delivered Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (ICBT) to help current and former public safety personnel (PSP) to improve their mental health and wellbeing. ICBT typically begins with an online and telephone screening. ICBT itself involves patients reviewing psychoeducational materials over the internet and therapists providing support and directing therapeutic activities via secure messaging and phone calls. The team also consists of staff who support the operations of PSPNET, including communicating with relevant parties. The Operations Manager will work under the supervision of Dr. Heather Hadjistavropoulos and in collaboration with other managers and staff on the team. The incumbent will be required to follow protocols as approved by the Research Ethics Board.
What You’ll Do:
- Maintain effective and efficient leadership through the development and coordination of policies, procedures, and business infrastructures of PSPNET.
- Develop, manage, and report on the PSPNET’s budget and human resource processes and activities.
- Work closely with PSPNET managers to ensure the operational plans and targeted benchmarks are identified and progress and/or issues are brought forward to the Principal Investigators (PI) for advisement.

Position Requirements
What You’ll Bring to this Position:
- A Bachelor’s degree or higher; preferably in Business Administration, Policy or Computer Science.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in administration, or related experience.
- An equivalent combination of education and pertinent experience may be considered.
- Research administration, is an asset. Project Management experience is a definite asset. Information Technology knowledge is a definite asset.
Skills That Will Ensure Your Success in the Role:
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to articulate complex issues to diverse audiences.
- Demonstrated ability to build and manage a team to support the objectives of PSPNET.
- Strong interpersonal skills including influencing and problem-solving skills with an emphasis on the ability to establish collaborative relationships.
- Ability to manage multiple competing priorities in a fluid work environment.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks concurrently in a high-volume environment, apply continuous improvement principles and meet deadlines without compromising standards of service and quality.
- Demonstrated experience with complex budget management.
- Demonstrated experience in managing in a matrix environment.
- Demonstrated understanding of applicable University research and government regulations.
- Knowledge of general human resources management principles and university human resources policy and guidelines with APT and CUPE collective agreements.
- Knowledge of recruitment practices, interviewing, selection of new staff, training, and conducting performance evaluations.
- Knowledge of complex databases, technology, and software including Microsoft 365, Banner, E-Recruitment, Caspur, FAST, Cascade Server, etc.
- Knowledge and experience in project management methodology to design, plan, initiate, organize and direct projects tasks to implement programs and service.
- Knowledge of information technology and online learning.
- Knowledge of public safety personnel and mental health issues.
- Experience supporting academic or health research projects.
- Experience in managing development of software.
- Experience in contract management.
- Successful track record in project development, negotiation, management, and delivery including finances.
- Flexible with proven ability to shift priorities and demands.
- Must be able to work autonomously under supervision.
- Must have strong organizational and time management skills.
- Must have strong assessment and problem solving skills.
- Must have advanced computer skills.
- Valid driver’s license and road worthy vehicle an asset.
- Previous experience with public safety personnel an asset.
Physical Demands Pay Grade APT 5 Salary Range $71,745 - $96,825 Annually Status Term Work Hours
As per the APT Collective Agreement.
