Description: Description: The Medical Radiation Technologist I (MRT) performs all routine radiographic/fluoroscopic, computed tomography and interventional procedures. The MRT I also produces radiographs of high diagnostic quality in an efficient and safe manner while attending to the diagnostic and care needs of patients undergoing diagnostic/therapeutic procedures. The MRT I is responsible for the provision of services in accordance with established standards, and the Mission, Vision, Values, policies and procedures of Covenant Health. This position is covered by the terms and conditions of the HSAA Paramedical Professional/Technical Collective Agreement.

    Required Qualifications: Required Qualifications: Graduate of a Radiological Technology program or recognized equivalent required. Active registration with the Alberta College of Medical Diagnostic and Therapeutic Technologists (ACMDTT) required. BLS (Level C - Health Care Provider) required.

    Additional Required Qualifications: Current, demonstrated competency in all General radiographic exams. Demonstrated awareness and competency in adaptive radiographic techniques. Current, demonstrated competency in the scanning of basic CT exams. Must possess a high degree of confidentiality. Demonstrated ability to be able to work within existing, clearly defined policies and procedures. Proven ability to work under pressure within a team in emergency situations. Experienced and committed to providing high quality student teaching and preceptorship. Involved in x-ray emitting procedures requiring the donning of leaded apparel weighing up to 9.5kg for up to 7.75 hours while assisting within the perimeter of a radiation field.

    Preferred Qualifications: Postgraduate experience preferred. Experience of operating a Siemens CT scanner preferred.
