This work is a casual basis where Sask 1st Call forwards requests to K-Tech whenever someone wants to dig or do construction in areas where our client owns underground communication infrastructure. Hours range from 0 to 25 hours per week. Work can be done according to the workers schedule including evenings or weekends, as long as the locate is complete within 5 days of the request. Major Responsibilities: Participate in and comply with K-Tech Electrical Solutions Health and Safety program including daily risk assessments, vehicle inspections, and quarterly OH&S meetings. Read and understand maps and other documents to help identify underground utilities. Operate handheld detection equipment. Prioritizing locating requests. Mark the location of underground utilities using provided paints, flags, and equipment. Record GPS locations of vaults. Submit a summary report of completed tickets daily. Qualifications: A valid driver's license and ability to drive extensively on unpaved roads. Ability to work independently. Good problems solving skills. Good communication skills with managers, crews, homeowners and contractors required. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs., work in all types of weather. Basic computer skills. Knowledge of underground utility construction is preferred but not required. Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen. We Provide: Paid training:o SCOT (3.5 hrs), K-Tech Orientation (8hrs), Utility Advanced Line Locating (8hrs). Opportunity for Apprenticeship as an Electrician, if employee expresses interest. Employee Provides: Cell phone with data and mapping app such as Google Maps. Cell phone or computer to email daily report and for online training purposes. Compensation: $22 per hour with expectation that locates will be planned to maximize efficiency by minimizing travel time (i.e. group locates by area when possible). 20/day cell phone/data reimbursement.
