As a Lead Hand – Landscape Construction, you support the Crew Leader in executing high-quality landscape construction projects while guiding daily crew performance. You combine strong technical ability with growing leadership responsibility — helping ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and to Hutten standards.
This is hands-on, outdoor work — paired with accountability and direction on site.
What You’ll Be Responsible For
Project Execution
- Assist the Crew Leader in supervising, delegating, coordinating, and executing daily work activities of a 2–3 person crew — at times independently
- Support management of safety, quality, and productivity
- Work safely and responsibly with strong initiative
- Wear appropriate PPE at all times
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of trucks, trailers, equipment, jobsites, and yard areas
Assistant Leadership
- Take ownership of smaller projects while supporting overall project leadership
- Demonstrate continuous growth and personal goal achievement
- Actively participate in regular team meetings
- Communicate professionally and courteously with customers
- Comply with all company and safety regulations
Quality Workmanship
- Reading and interpreting blueprints, structural drawings, and specifications
- Layout of work areas to required elevations, grades, and drainage requirements
- Site calculations and material quantity take-offs
- Operation of chainsaws, jackhammers, laser levels, measurement equipment, and construction tools
- Operation of heavy equipment including skid steer, excavator, and loader
- Operation of crew truck and trailer (AZ level)
- Completion of complex and detailed stone, wood, water, and planting installations
Short-Term Planning & Documentation

Complete required paperwork and electronic logs daily

Participate in daily planning to coordinate project goals and identify obstacles

Track estimated vs. actual job hours
