About the role

###Your Opportunity:

Calgary DSC Anatomic Pathology is a high-volume, centralized laboratory providing essential support to physicians and patients across both community and hospital settings. We are looking for a proactive professional to join our fast-paced team and help maintain our high standards of patient care. In this role, you will be a key technical resource, responsible for coaching and supporting staff as well as coordinating the onboarding, training, and orientation of new staff. You’ll use your excellent organizational skills to prioritize tasks, adapt to fluid workflows, and apply effective change management. From troubleshooting equipment to offering technical advice, you’ll be responsible for resolving issues independently and knowing exactly when to escalate them to management. Quality and safety are at the heart of what we do. You will implement, assess, and continuously improve quality control procedures to ensure all work meets accreditation standards. Your responsibilities will include reviewing, developing, and optimizing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), validating new methods and equipment, streamlining workflows to enhance efficiency and consistency, and promptly investigating and addressing any quality concerns.

###Description:

As a Medical Laboratory Technologist (MLT) II, you will coordinate the day-to-day operations and the quality control function of the laboratory. You may have advanced technical knowledge or are the lead responsible for coordinating the day-to-day operations of Laboratory Information System (LIS) support, site education, quality assurance or laboratory research programs. Your responsibilities may include coordinating, prioritizing, monitoring and assigning work to MLT l's, providing technical advice, problem solving and trouble shooting on a variety of laboratory instruments. In addition, you will participate in the technical aspects of the laboratory, ensuring the performance of standard and specialized procedures.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT) program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Alberta (CMLTA).

Additional Required Qualifications:

Anatomic Pathology experience: Active AP experience within the last 6 months. Document Management: Experience within the last 1 year. Equipment experience: 2 years of experience with equipment implementation and validation.

Preferred Qualifications:

Professional Development: Completion of Change Management or Project Management courses. Leadership: Previous leadership experience; completed leadership courses are preferred. Education: Previous teaching experience.
