We are currently seeking aTechnical Coordinatorwho will play a key role in ensuring the efficient operation of the engineering department. The selected candidate will provide essential support in the identification, preparation, and distribution of new tasks, such as new orders, to the various engineering groups. This position ensures that workflows, task assignments, and resource coordination effectively support Velan’s engineering activities, operational priorities, and project execution requirements.

#Responsibilities

  • Manage the Velan Project Engineering email box which is set up specifically to forward all engineering documents to customer and receive all returned documents from customers

  • Provide support with the Velan Data Management (VDM) database, notably by, but not limited to:

    • Daily receipt of orders, handling the initial set-up of all new orders by assigning tasks to the appropriate internal and external stakeholders
    • Releasing documents
    • Creating master items
    • Reviewing and interpreting return customer comments and entering all individual drawing/document statuses before organizing and archiving them in the engineering central server
  • Coordinating the work with assigned project engineering staff, ensuring that they receive all customer comments where drawing/report revisions are required and confirm proper status

  • Set-up and maintain mandatory staff training files in accordance with our QA manual to meet external and internal auditing; be aware of requirements for Engineering audits

  • Coordinate with project engineering staff on maintaining and completing Engineering Change Orders (ECO)

  • Coordinate work following the reception of Actuator Ordering Documents from the Applications group by reviewing and determining product type, size and distribution to the appropriate detail design group and liaising with project engineering staff

  • Receive all COSINs (original and revisions) destined for engineering (which comprises of customer specifications, data sheets, etc.) and file into the appropriate engineering folders before coordinating information transfer with the assigned project engineering staff

  • Ensure liaison between VPM and customers regarding status of engineering drawings and reports, follow up closely with the customers regarding approvals of engineering documents

  • Act as the main contact for internal and external requests for engineering drawings and reports

  • Able to communicate with customers regarding engineering-related documentation

  • After review by the Manager, Project Engineering, assign all engineering orders for North American plants, Korea, Portugal, China and Germany

  • Create and maintain project engineering files on the central server

  • Handle and complete engineering transactions on specific orders requiring generic drawings.

  • Coordinate with quality control staff when required engineering documentation is required to enable shipments

  • Control the documentation for all design/seismic reports by ensuring that all required information is recorded in the VDM database, transmittals are made and forwarded to external customers. Enter all statuses upon receipt of reports from customers, advise Analytical if revisions are required.

  • Maintain ECO’s for Analytical

  • Ensure that certificates of conformance and environmental qualification statements are officially signed by a certified engineer, documented and transmitted to the requesting party

  • Provide support to the Engineering Vice-President and engineering groups notably by, but not limited to:

    • Organizing meetings, travel, and certain events
    • Able to independently compose and issue departmental messages at the request of the VP.
    • Help writing, translating and distributing engineering department procedures (EI, EP, EWI, etc.)
    • Transmittals of research and development reports to the customer, maintaining their status in the system & ensuring copies of reports are available on file and for viewing.
  • Order and maintain Engineering office supplies

#Your Profile

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering
  • Member of Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ)
  • Master’s degree in engineering management is an asset
  • Proven experience in a laboratory management role, preferably in a mechanical engineering setting
  • Proficiency in laboratory equipment and technology
  • Strong knowledge of laboratory procedures, safety protocols, and regulatory requirements.
  • Valve design concepts, including actuation (electric, pneumatic and hydraulic) (an asset)
  • Materials (especially steels), machining processes and mechanical assembly (strong
  • Design and drafting standards, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (strong)
  • Product and life-cycle data management and configuration control concepts, principles and practices (asset)
  • Word and Excel M (a must)
  • FEA methods regarding stress analysis and computational fluid dynamics (an asset)
  • Functional bilingual (Oral and written)
