About the role

The Director, Risk Culture, is responsible for supporting the AVP, Risk Culture, in fostering a robust, sustainable, and risk-aware culture across the organization. This role involves developing and overseeing training programs, creating presentations for leadership, and monitoring metrics to track the effectiveness of risk culture initiatives. The Director will collaborate with leaders across the three lines of defense to ensure that roles and responsibilities are clearly understood and a strong risk-aware culture is embraced and continuously improved.

Position Responsibilities:

Training and Development

  • Develop comprehensive training materials on risk management principles and practices.
  • Oversee the implementation and delivery of training programs to ensure all employees understand their roles within the Risk Management Framework.
  • Collect and analyze feedback to continuously improve training programs and communication strategies.

Metrics and Monitoring

  • Develop, implement and maintain the risk culture framework, policies and procedures.
  • Establish comprehensive metrics to assess the effectiveness of risk culture initiatives, including key performance indicators that align with organization goals and regulatory expectations.
  • Collect, transform, and analyze risk culture data to provide actionable insights, ensuring adherence to data governance requirements.
  • Continuously monitor these metrics to track progress and identify areas for improvement, and prepare reports to communicate findings and recommendations to senior management, facilitating informed decision making and strategic planning.

Communication and Reporting

  • Create presentations to report on risk culture initiatives and progress to leadership.
  • Ensure consistent messaging and facilitate open dialogue across all three lines of defense.

Collaboration and Liaison

  • Liaise with the three lines of defense to align risk culture initiatives with broader enterprise risk management strategies.
  • Support the AVP in integrating risk culture considerations into strategic, business, and operational planning.

Required Qualifications:

  • Background in Risk Management, Organizational Development, Communications, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in the financial services industry with a focus on risk culture, change management, or enterprise risk.
  • Proven experience designing and implementing training and communication programs.
  • Strong understanding of regulatory expectations related to risk culture (e.g., OSFI’s Culture Risk Management guidance).
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and facilitation skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence and engage collaborators at all levels.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Salary range is expected to be between

$105,750.00 CAD - $190,350.00 CAD
