Known for their integrity, accountability, and project excellence, the organization is entering a period of continued growth and is seeking a Controller to lead and strengthen their financial operations.
Description
As Controller, you will serve as the financial leader of the business, ensuring accuracy, transparency, and insight across all financial activities: Lead monthly and quarterly close, including P&L, balance sheet, cash flow, and WIP reporting Oversee project cost accounting: budgets, progress billings, holdbacks, change orders, and job costing Drive accountability in Estimate at Completion (EAC) forecasting and WIP reviews Partner with Project Managers and Operations to improve forecasting, margin tracking, and decision-making Oversee AR/AP, payroll, and cash management, ensuring strong internal controls Lead annual budgeting and rolling forecasts, tying backlog and pipeline to financial planning Own and optimize the ERP system (Jonas Premier), including automation, reporting, and dashboards Coach and mentor the finance team, fostering development, clarity, and collaboration Represent Finance within the EOS (Entrepreneurial Operating System) framework, supporting scorecards, Rocks, and issue resolution MPI does not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, age, disability, marital status, or based on an individual's status in any group or class otherwise protected under applicable human rights legislation. Profile
CPA designation (CA, CGA, or CMA) 6-10+ years of progressive accounting experience Direct construction or general contracting experience (job costing, WIP, percentage of completion) Experience at the Manager or Senior Manager level People management experience Strong knowledge of ASPE/GAAP, revenue recognition, progress billing, subcontractor compliance, and bonding/insurance Advanced Excel skills (Pivot Tables, Power Query); ERP expertise required (Jonas Premier experience is a strong asset) Collaborative, hands-on leader with high ownership, sound judgment, and the ability to perform under pressure Process-oriented mindset with a passion for improving systems and partnering with operations Job Offer A competitive annual salary of $120,000 to $130,000 CAD. Discretionary annual bonus. Comprehensive benefits package (details to be determined).
