Job Description PROJECT MANAGER Information Technology

Victoria or Vancouver Lower Mainland

The Opportunity Working as part of a dynamic, results-driven team, you manage all aspects of key IT projects in support of business initiatives. This includes delivering projects within agreed upon scope, schedule, quality and budget, while following effective BC Ferries project methodology policies and procedures.

You ensure that the proper resources are allocated to a project, manage those resources (people, capital, time) to meet critical milestones and objectives , and identify and manage issues. You work closely with Management and Executives, and you provide status reports to project stakeholders including project Owner, Sponsor and Steering Committee.

The Role

  • Practic ing effective organizational change management practices following BCF project methodology , policies and procedures;
  • Facilitating workshops, Working Group meetings, Steering Committee meetings and other stakeholder sessions as required ;
  • Utiliz ing effective conflict management practices in determining agreed directions or decisions;
  • Establish ing and manag ing effective change control processes;
  • Defin ing project scope, goals and deliverables that support business needs in collaboration with stakeholders and management;
  • Conduct ing and support ing team member performance management activities;
  • Analyz ing and evaluat ing client needs and advises on timing and priorities of projects;
  • Working with Supply Chain, facilitates the procurement process including RFPs, RFIs, evaluation, selection of vendors and contract negotiation;
  • Contribut ing to the development of the client’s short and long term strategic plans as they relate to the respective project portfolio;
  • Identif ying inter-dependencies, conflicting requirements, and overlapping impact on business processes and IT services and architectures across projects;
  • Effectively communicat ing and manag ing project expectations to team members and stakeholders on an ongoing basis;
  • Defin ing project success criteria and disseminates information to involved parties throughout project life cycle;
  • Conduct ing project post implementation reviews and contributes to lessons learned repository;
  • Build ing , develop ing , and grow ing any business relationships vital to the success of the project .

What You Bring To The Team

  • B achelor’s degree in Business Administration or Computer Science , or a related field is required
  • Minimum 2 years project management experience, managing projects from initiation through to implementation
  • Experience managing projects with budgets in excess of $250K
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively motivate others
  • Consistently follow through on commitments
  • Take ownership and assume responsibility for work, actions, and decisions
  • Foster positive and collaborative relationships with all stakeholders
  • Build trust through goal alignment and transparency

Additional Information The target salary rang e: $105,200 - $131,500 per annum. The starting salary is determined based on the successful candidate’s knowledge, experience and internal equity. Starting salary may exceed the target range on exceptional basis.
