St. James Catholic School is located in the beautiful Okanagan Valley of British Columbia. The school enrolls approximately 180 students from Kindergarten to Grade Seven. For the 2026 - 2027 school year, we are seeking a dynamic, skilled, qualified candidate to join our team as an Elementary School Vice-Principal. The position will officially commence August 1st, 2026. The Vice-Principal has a critical role to play in supporting the mission, vision and values in the life of this Catholic school community and works collaboratively with the Administrative team of the school under the direction of the Principal.
Key Qualifications and Responsibilities:
- Demonstrated strong technology skills, including familiarity with AI, to support and guide staff and students in a rapidly evolving digital landscape. Ability to troubleshoot technical issues and contribute as a key member of the organization's technology leadership.
- Background in Indigenous Education, with the ability to build and maintain meaningful relationships with OKIB and the broader Indigenous community.
- Strong creativity and communication skills to plan and lead engaging monthly assemblies, as well as develop digital and social media content to promote school initiatives.
- Experience in Special Education, working collaboratively with the Principal and Inclusion Education teacher to support and enhance a school-wide inclusive philosophy and programming.
- Willingness to actively participate in extracurricular activities and school events, contributing to a vibrant school community.
- Ability to collaborate with the Parent Support Group to support school initiatives and fundraising efforts.
- Experience with hybrid or blended learning models, with the capacity to help develop innovative learning pathways.
- Willingness to assume the role of Teacher in Charge (TIC) in the absence of the Principal
Preference will be given to candidates who possess:
- active membership in a Catholic parish
- a demonstrated commitment to and passion for excellence in Catholic education
- a minimum of 5 successful years prior teaching experience, preferably within BC Catholic schools
- a strong understanding and application of CISKD and BC Ministry of Education priorities, policies, and procedures
- experience using innovative teaching methods, including remote learning experiences and the ability to support and supervise others
- model and assist in the supervision of teachers related to best practice in instructional planning, assessment, and evaluation
- a commitment to ongoing professional development aligned with school, Ministry and CISKD priorities
- the ability to adapt practice when faced with the ever-shifting needs of today's education system
- a valid TRB certification
- the commitment to provide leadership of extracurricular activities
- a Master's degree in related educational field of study, or whom have commenced or are about to commence these studies

- Foundations of the Faith Program
- BC Catholic School Leadership Course
- Further evidence of lifelong learning (ex., courses in Religious Education or Theology or Catholic Educational Leadership, UBC Short Course (or equivalent), etc.)
