The Warehouse Manager plays a critical role in supporting company objectives by leading and overseeing all warehouse operations, including the receiving, storage, and distribution of merchandise. This position ensures operational efficiency, inventory accuracy, and optimal product flow to support store sales and profitability.
The Warehouse Manager leads and develops warehouse associates, maintains high operational and safety standards, and drives continuous improvement across warehouse processes. This role collaborates closely with store leadership and sales teams to ensure timely product availability, efficient order fulfillment, and exceptional service for both internal and external customers.
Key Responsibilities
Customer Service
- Lead by example in delivering exceptional service to both internal and external customers.
- Ensure warehouse operations support the store’s commitment to an outstanding customer experience.
- Partner with store leadership and sales teams to ensure timely product availability and efficient order fulfillment.
- Resolve operational issues that may impact product availability, shipping accuracy, or customer satisfaction.
Operations
- Oversee all warehouse operations, including receiving, shipping, inventory control, replenishment, and inter-store transfers.
- Ensure incoming shipments from third-party distributors and transfers from other locations are processed accurately and efficiently.
- Supervise the scanning, packing, and loading of outgoing transfers and shipments while maintaining operational accuracy and presentation standards.
- Maintain accountability for inventory accuracy, stock organization, and product accessibility across warehouse and stock areas.
- Optimize warehouse layout, storage systems, and slotting strategies to maximize space utilization and increase overall product capacity.
- Implement space optimization and capacity planning initiatives to support growing inventory volumes while maintaining efficient workflows.
- Apply lean warehouse principles and continuous improvement practices to enhance operational efficiency and reduce waste.
- Investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies, including quantity or quality issues, and implement corrective actions when required.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe warehouse environment in accordance with company operational standards.
- Oversee replenishment processes to ensure products are floor-ready and available to support sales objectives.
- Monitor workflow, productivity, and operational performance to ensure timely processing of merchandise.
- Complete and review operational reporting while ensuring accuracy and adherence to required timelines.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements, workflow optimization, and increased operational efficiency.
Leadership
- Lead, motivate, and develop warehouse associates to achieve operational excellence and high performance.
- Provide coaching, feedback, and performance management to ensure team members meet company expectations.
- Foster a positive and collaborative team environment that promotes engagement and productivity.
- Manage scheduling and resource allocation to ensure appropriate operational coverage.
- Lead by example in maintaining company standards related to customer service, workplace organization, safety, dress code, and policy compliance.
- Ensure all team members adhere to Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) standards and company safety protocols.
Training & Development
- Oversee onboarding and training of warehouse associates to ensure strong operational knowledge and adherence to company procedures.
- Ensure team members complete required training within established timelines.
- Conduct regular team meetings and daily operational huddles to communicate priorities, updates, and performance expectations.
- Identify development opportunities and support the professional growth of team members.
Qualifications & Skills
- Previous experience in warehouse, logistics, or inventory management.
- Proven leadership or supervisory experience in an operational environment.
- Strong organizational and operational management skills.
- Knowledge of inventory control systems and warehouse technology.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Understanding of warehouse space optimization, capacity planning, and workflow management.
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations, including OHSA compliance.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple priorities.
