Position Summary:
Working under the direction of the Director, Bensadoun School of Retail Management (BSRM) and working with the Marketing and Communications team for the Desautels Faculty of Management, the Marketing Officer’s role is to establish and develop marketing, branding, and communications action plans for BSRM and its programs and initiatives in order to help meet organizational, program, and school objectives. The candidate will manage both the external and internal communications as well as marketing, public relations, advertising, and promotional activities for the school in order to reach admission and initiative targets and increase brand awareness.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Create the marketing plan; determine and manage marketing budget.
- Manage and take the lead in the design and production of both print and digital marketing materials (brochures, swag, presentations, web, email, and social media content, impact reports, etc.).
- Oversee photoshoots, videos, and other promotional material generation for communications and social media.
- Formulate a bilingual content roadmap and oversee the communities on various social media platforms (LinkedIn, YouTube, Instagram, Twitter/X etc.); establish and create engaging campaigns for stakeholders across various platforms; establish and support the growth and engagement of existing communities.
- Liaise with media relations at the Desautels Faculty and University levels to maximize PR exposure of BSRM and all its related activities.
- Update web content in a timely manner to ensure that all BSRM marketing and communications touchpoints are aligned with the established branding.
- Provide event management support for BSRM retail summit, student competitions, and initiatives.
- Manage external vendors and internal McGill University stakeholders.
Other Qualifying Skills and/or Abilities
Undergraduate degree (Business or Marketing-related degree) preferred.
Experience in all aspects of developing and managing marketing strategies.
Proven project management experience and ability to manage internal stakeholders and external suppliers. Experience in customer and market research with strong technical marketing skills; as well as experience with relevant software programs and tools (CMS platforms, Google Analytics, Envoke, CVENT, Canva, Sprout or similar social media management tools). Strong organizational and planning skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
A strategic thinker with great problem analysis and problem-solving ability.
Entrepreneurial mindset and ability to work autonomously and within a team, demonstrating leadership skills and persuasiveness. Ability to work in an MS Office environment using word processing, spreadsheets, and presentation software. Graphic design and/or event management experience would be a plus.
English and French, spoken and written.
