ABOUT THE JOB

We are currently looking for enthusiastic and energetic individuals to deliver leadership in supervising the provision of aquatic instructional and recreational programs and activities at an Aquatic Centre.
ABOUT YOU
You are a team player committed to community. You will supervise; schedule and assist in the hiring and training of a moderate sized group of subordinates engaged in instructional and lifeguarding tasks; assists with budget preparation, evaluates and recommends changes to instructional and recreational aquatic programs; assist in implementing new programs. You are reliable, responsive to customer needs and excellent at building relationships. You are courteous and effective with the public in providing information and assistance regarding programs, activities and community events. You enjoy working with a diverse group of people and embrace change and challenges.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
You have considerable knowledge of the theory and practice of lifesaving, lifeguarding, cardio-pulmonary resuscitation and first aid. Sound knowledge of departmental policies, procedures, and statutes applicable to the operation of aquatic facilities is preferred.
Completion of the 12th grade, supplemented by courses in lifesaving, lifeguarding, aquatics instruction and pool operation and maintenance, plus sound related experience including some supervisory experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
REQUIRED LICENCES, CERTIFICATES AND REGISTRATIONS:
Red Cross Lifesaving Instructor's Certificate or equivalent. National Lifeguard, Aquatic
Emergency Care and/or St. John’s First Aid Certificate, including training in Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation or equivalent and certified Swim 4 Life. Pool Operators Level I would be an asset.
All employees will be available to work at any North Vancouver Recreation & Culture location and are required to submit a Police Information Check as a condition of employment.
This is a temporary full-time position covering a maternity leave (ending October 2027) for 37.5 hours per week involving shift work including days, evenings and weekends. The pay for this unionized position starts at $33.25 - $39.14 and includes comprehensive benefits.
