General Summary: The Senior Analyst, Real Estate Accounting manages a more complex and higher-volume portfolio and is also responsible for all aspects of general ledger accounting, reporting, cash management, and budgeting/forecasting for their portfolio. They serve as the main point of contact, providing operational support to Property Administrators and General Managers at the site level, as well as Accountants at third-party service providers, where applicable. Beyond standard reporting, the Senior Analyst also responds to ad-hoc analysis requests and records corporate and management reporting entries, reflecting their broader accountability and expertise.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities: General Ledger Accounting

  • Responsible for all aspects of general ledger accounting, including preparing month-end close journal entries, preparing bank reconciliations, commodity tax remittances, timely and accurate recording of monthly results obtained from service providers, etc
  • Responsible for financial reporting for corporate structures including preparation of solvency analysis and step memos
  • Prepare corporate/management reporting entries such as stat. entries, contras, ensure intercompany eliminations, and clear integrities

Tenant Reconciliations

  • Prepare or review real estate tax, operating expense and other CAM (escalation billings) for tenants

Reporting

  • Month-end review and reporting including: month-end key indicator and variance analysis against budgets, equity, investment and intercompany account reconciliations, cash management, general and administrative expense analysis, foreign exchange analysis, etc
  • Prepare quarterly financial packages, year-end audit packages and liaison with auditors
  • Analyze cash flows and manage contributions/distributions to/from the property
  • Prepare various ad-hoc accounting reports and analysis as requested by property management and other related parties
  • Provide transaction support: preparation of statement of adjustments for dispositions and opening balance sheet analysis for acquisitions
  • Prepare technical accounting analysis

Budgeting and Forecasting

  • Prepare, review and analyze annual operating plans and quarterly reforecasts with our various teams, third party managers and/or asset managers
  • Assist with the execution of portfolio strategies, including supporting the AM teams

Special Projects and Process Innovations and Controls

  • Participate in special projects with a focus on continuous improvement, process automation to improve efficiencies in day to day responsibilities and people and culture initiatives
  • Ensure compliance with Oxford’s processes and controls

Qualifications:

  • University degree, preferably in Commerce, Business or Accounting or pursuing a Professional Accounting Designation (CPA)
  • Minimum 3-5 years work experience in real estate accounting

Skills: Accounting and Finance

  • End-to-end ownership of accounting, cash management, budgeting, and forecasting for a complex portfolio
  • Strong understanding of corporate and management reporting

Analytical Skills

  • Skilled in interpreting financial results and providing insights
  • Responding to ad-hoc analysis requests and providing meaningful recommendations
  • Ability to identify trends, risks, and opportunities across portfolios
  • Ability to review, interpret data visualization tools such as Power BI

Time Management and Organization

  • Works independently with minimal supervision
  • Demonstrates initiative in improving processes, taking on complex reporting, and mentoring junior team members
  • Balances competing priorities across a broader portfolio
  • Applies professional judgment to complex issues, going beyond routine processes

Communication

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Acts as main point of contact for Property Administrators, General Managers, and third-party service providers
  • Strong interpersonal skills to provide operational support and resolve issues

Computer Skills

  • Experience with GSS, HFM and JDE
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel
  • Working knowledge of PowerPoint capabilities including how to create presentations with text, images and basic design principals

The expected salary range for this position is $72,000.00 - $108,000.00 per year.
