If yes, this may be the role for you! The South Australian State Emergency Service (SASES) is seeking a Senior Business Support Officer (BSO) to join our team. The BSO is a pivotal role in supporting and empowering our volunteers in making the most of every dollar in their critical work.

About the role: As the BSO, you will play a key role in the SASES’s service delivery to its volunteers and staff. You will be responsible for a range of day-to-day finance matters, including but not limited to:

  • financial operations and compliance: processing and monitoring of financial transactions, budgets and expenditure, supporting compliance with financial policies and delegations, and assisting in the identification of financial risks and mitigating controls,
  • financial systems and process management: reviewing financial systems and processes with a lens of compliance and continuous improvement,
  • reporting and analysis: research, analyse and report on financial information, including financial reporting for senior management as required, and
  • stakeholder support and training: establish and maintain effective working relationships with SES volunteers and staff, including the provision of training and guidance on financial processes, policies, and procedures.

About you: To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate the following:

  • communication and engagement: you will have excellent communication skills and a genuine desire to support our dedicated volunteers and operational teams,
  • values alignment: you will naturally embody our core values and be committed to achieving outcomes that advance our mission and bring our vision to life,
  • finance and accounting knowledge: experience in financial operations, financial analysis and problem solving,
  • technical proficiency: experience in the use of finance/procurement software systems and the Microsoft Office suite, including an intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel,
  • attention to detail: a keen eye for the detail and a focus on accuracy in your work.

A tertiary qualification in a relevant field or experience in the emergency services sector is not required for this role but would be advantageous.
