(June 1, 2026 to May 28, 2027)
35 hours weekly

Board is currently seeking a Temporary Finance Clerk to join our dynamic team.
Reporting to the Manager of
Financial Services, the Finance Clerk is responsible for all finance related
functions within the board, including but not limited to Accounts Payable,
Accounts Receivable, purchasing and banking. This position is responsible for assisting
with month end reporting and maintaining appropriate financial documentation.
The Finance Clerk performs monitoring and reconciliation of various
financial transactions and accounts.
ESSENTIAL
QUALIFICATIONS
Education /
Certification:
1 Year community
college diploma or equivalent in accounting or other related field.
Experience Required:
2 years of recent related
work.
Key Activities
Responsible for all finance
related functions within the board, including but not limited to Accounts Payable,
Accounts Receivable, purchasing and banking.
This position is responsible
for assisting with month end reporting, maintaining appropriate financial
documentation, year-end working paper file preparation and analysis, purchasing
support.
Performs monitoring and
reconciliation of various financial transactions and accounts.
Good knowledge of data
entry, manipulation and retrieval techniques related to financial information
systems and word processing, spreadsheets, databases, and electronic mail is
required to enter, verify, and maintain data, process payments, and produce reports
and statistics.
Enters and maintains
information in financial and administrative systems. Extracts, verifies and
formats data to provide routine and ad-hoc reports.
Responds to inquiries from
employees, vendors, and managers on procedures, requirements and payment status. Provides clarification and explanation of
policies, procedures and requirements.
Provides general office
support services as required.
Scope of Knowledge
Knowledge of ministerial and
board policies, directives and guidelines relating to financial administration,
accounts payable, expenditures, hospitality, travel, and acquisitions is
required to process accounts payable (including travel claims, training reimbursements,
invoices, etc.) in accordance with all applicable rules and regulations, to
provide clarification and explanations of policies, procedures and requirements
to employees, vendors and managers as required, to conduct periodic monitoring
of files or transactions as directed by the supervisor, and to maintain
adequate records and files.
Knowledge of departmental
financial authorities and financial coding structures (chart of accounts) is
required to verify the completeness and accuracy of financial information and
forms received.
Skills
Good analytical skills and
attention to detail are required to perform calculations to confirm amounts
indicated on forms and invoices, to balance and reconcile financial
information, and to prepare various spreadsheets and financial analysis.
Writing skill is required to
prepare drafts of correspondence on procedural changes, or other topics
relating to the work performed for the review and approval of the supervisor.
This skill is also required to respond in writing to inquiries and requests.
Proficiency in the use of
computerized systems, including Word, Excel, and in a Windows environment, is
essential. Strong mathematical and analytical skills are required, along with
excellent organizational and time management abilities.
Maintaining excellent discretion and the ability to uphold
confidentiality is crucial in any professional setting. This means being able
to handle sensitive information with care and ensuring that it is not disclosed
to unauthorized individuals. It involves understanding the importance of
privacy and being able to recognize situations where confidentiality is
required.
Interpersonal and
communication skills are required to obtain and provide information and
clarification on forms and invoices, to respond to enquiries from suppliers and
internal clients, and to provide training and guidance on work methods and
practices to colleagues. It is essential to be able to communicate
effectively and relate to people tactfully, diplomatically, and professionally
at all times.
Problem solving skills are
required to detect and troubleshoot problems with electronic data and reports
and to format data and reports to meet specified requirements.
Ability to work both
independently and in a team environment.
The ability to provide
regular attendance is mandatory.
