The Opportunity

The Housing Division of the Ministry of Social Services is seeking a key partner who is committed to supporting the Saskatchewan Housing Corporation’s strategy and operations.

Reporting to the Director of Business Planning and Analysis, theCorporate Information Management Specialistis responsible for providing leadership and strategic direction on corporate reporting and information management strategies. The successful candidate will play a lead role in data management and reporting in order to ensure the efficiency and effectiveness of housing services and program delivery.

Background and Competency Requirements

Personable, engaging, innovative and highly motivated, our ideal candidate brings a strong combination of leadership and collaboration skills, project management and process improvement, and strategic thinking and policy development, all built on a solid foundation of analytical and technical proficiency. The path taken to developing this diverse set of skills can be equally varied, but would typically include a graduate level of training supplemented with several years of on-the-job experience, learning, and development. Experience in government and/or the housing portfolio would be considered an asset, a PMP designation, and/or expert levels skills with tools such as Power BI and Microsoft Fabric.

Corporate Information Management Specialist Responsibilities

The successful candidate will lead the development of policies and recommendations on data systems, data structure, data collection, data manipulation, data presentation and reporting, and business process mapping to ensure quality data and information are collected for reporting on key performance indicators and critical outcomes for the housing division as well as related areas of the ministry.

The successful candidate will identify operational and program inefficiencies and develop recommended solutions. These recommendations may include development of system frameworks, service utilization, financial models/systems and program performance measures to be used for new and current program improvements. Examples of the types of tasks the successful candidate will lead include:

  • Leading and managing a corporate information system strategy by ensuring that information systems/information technology strategy aligns with the corporate’s short term and long term operational and business goals and strategic direction.
  • Leading the development of policies on data structure, architecture, information gathering and develops systems for information collection, storage and retrieval, and reporting that provide an effective and efficient system of collecting and reporting on critical outcomes of the Ministry.
  • Ensuring performance management processes are in place, including necessary information to conduct program evaluations, program analysis, service delivery standards, and reporting processes to ensure objectives and outcomes are being met and service standards align with reporting to enable effective management to the standards.
  • Leading the development and maintenance of management information systems and reporting to support decision making regarding housing services.
  • Identification of needs and development of recommendations for changes in business processes and optimal workforce management strategies that improve client services or can be enhanced for optimal use of employee talents, efficient use of financial resources, and integration of advantages created through information technology capabilities.
