**Position:**Slide Path Designer
**Shift:**Regular Full Time, 40 hours a week
Department: Waterslide Engineering
**Location:**Richmond, BC, Canada
**Reports to:**Manager, Waterslide Engineering
Purpose:
Whitewater’s Water Slide Engineering department is looking for a Slide Path Designer to join their team! The Slide Path Designer’s role is to contribute and support our clients and customers through efficient cost-effective engineering. You as a Slide Path Designer member must operate at the forefront of safety and quality every day in the pursuit of fun water slide attractions. Reporting to the Engineering Manager, Water Slide Engineering, the successful candidate will be an integral part of our core design team bringing conceptual design into reality through our post-contract project release and engineering. By performing duties relating to design, documentation, validation, review, and project management, the candidate will be a key contributor to the successful implementation of our key contracts. Essential Responsibilities:

Be a technical lead in ensuring the highest level of safety and performance of our water slide attractions for the enjoyment of the general public.

Evaluating designs through the manipulation of 3D models to ensure our standard in performance and safety are met for every client deliverable.
-
Ensure the accuracy and quality of deliverables meets the standard of WhiteWater products as well as regional, ASTM or applicable code requirements.
-
Correlate customer specific requirements and contracted deliverables to provide the best, cost-effective Waterslide attractions with a focus on customer satisfaction.
-
Work alongside client design teams, contractors and other internal technical leads to efficiently integrate our products into the overall water park design.
-
Create and compile project deliverables including but not limited to risk assessments, FMEAs, drawings, equipment BOMs, technical specs, reports, test plans and O&Ms as required.
-
Act upon any design non-conformances (NCRs) and quality issues with diligence and focus, through root cause analysis and using QMS methodology.
-
Capture and plan for any deviations from standard designs for the customization of our products based on client expectations or site-specific requirements.
-
Support in the continuous improvement of internal WhiteWater design and engineering processes and workflow.

Support in the creation of packaged deliverables and any follow up requirements for third party review and certification of our Waterslide attractions.

Ensure layout and assembly drawings are in support of our construction team on site, troubleshoot or clarify any questions as they arise.

Following established discipline of using Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) and Product Data Management (PDM) tools.

Respect for people through positive communication, consideration, and collaborative relationships.

Maintain and follow best practices in Engineering, Customer Service, Quality, Lean Management and Safety.

Execute responsibilities according to lawful and ethical standards.

Define and align personal goals with departmental goals.

Periodically travel to site to perform reviews, testing, or commissioning products.

Follow the Engineering Change Order (ECO) process.
Qualifications & Experience:
-
5–7 years of design experience, preferably in a project engineering environment. Experience in the amusement industry is considered an asset.

Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Mechatronics, or Engineering Physics) preferred, or a Diploma in Mechanical Engineering Technology or relevant technical degree, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
-
Registered or eligible for registration as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng) with EGBC preferred.
-
Proficiency in 3D modeling software, including 2D/3D AutoCAD and SolidWorks.
-
Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365.
Competencies, Skills & Abilities:
-
Understanding of engineering project workflows.
-
Experience conducting FMEA (Failure Modes and Effects Analysis) or Risk Assessments.
-
Ability to create engineering drawings including GD&T, following established standards and best practices.
-
Experience with Product Data Management (PDM) or Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems.
-
Knowledge of materials used in corrosive environments.
-
Familiarity with fluid dynamics concepts, including pump curves and friction coefficient calculations.
-
Ability to analyze large data sets and derive meaningful conclusions.
-
Experience with Building Information Modeling (BIM) considered an asset.
-
Experience with Revit and Navisworks considered an asset.
-
Project management experience or PMP certification considered an asset.
-
Legally eligible to work in Canada.
-
Ability to travel internationally without restrictions.
