About the role
Job Purpose The Registered Social Worker will support the Maskokamik Shelter and the Mobile Outreach Team, providing culturally appropriate and trauma-informed psychological support to Indigenous individuals experiencing addictions and homelessness.
Education, Experience And Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Social Work from an accredited institution.
- Registered and in good standing with the Alberta College of Social Workers (ACSW).
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in social work, preferably in addiction and mental health services.
- Strong understanding of Indigenous cultures, traditions, and the impact of historical trauma.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle.
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
- Current certification in First Aid, CPR, and Naloxone administration is an asset.
- Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector.
- Experience working with Indigenous populations and understanding of Indigenous cultures and practices.
- Experience in mobile outreach or community-based settings.
- Knowledge of trauma-informed care and harm reduction principles.
- Proficiency in Cree or other Indigenous languages is an asset.
Working Conditions
Shelter will operate 24/7, which may require employees to work during evenings, weekends, and holidays. Shift schedules may vary, and flexibility in working hours may be necessary. While adhering to the Enoch Cree Nation Human Resources Policy & Procedure Manual.
