Community Impact

As a Veterinarian you will a have direct impact on reducing the pet population and supporting our purpose of keeping pets and people together. The Ontario SPCA operates four spay/neuter clinics, wellness clinics, SPCA Mobile Animal Wellness Services unit, and hosts MASH-style clinics to bring routine care and spay/neuter services to underserved communities. We also find loving homes for thousands of animals each year at our animal centres across the province – animals who depend on the compassion of a veterinary care team to bring them back to health so they can get their second chance.

Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced licensed Veterinarian with a love for doing wellness appointments. The Veterinarian will provide daily care of patients and conduct maintenance of preventative health programs and medical protocols within the clinic setting.

A Typical Day

Conduct wellness examinations for cats and dogs (approximately 10–13 appointments per day).

Perform preventive healthcare services, including vaccinations and annual health assessments.

Perform humane euthanasia procedures with compassion and professionalism.

Collect and interpret diagnostic samples, including blood tests and other in-house

diagnostics

Prescribe and dispense parasite prevention, including flea, tick, and heartworm medications.

Educate clients on preventive care, nutrition, parasite control, and overall pet health.

Maintain accurate and detailed medical records.

Collaborate with the veterinary team to ensure efficient patient flow and exceptional client care.

Adhere to hospital protocols and maintain high standards of patient care and safety.

Set up for Success!

Licensed to practice veterinary medicine in the province of Ontario

Be a member of good standing of the CVO

Small animal surgical experience

Relevant employment experience in a veterinary clinic

Previous surgical experience and strong animal care knowledge

Ability to lift 18 kg (40lbs) and to stand for long periods

Excellent communication skills

Previous supervisory experience an asset
