Purpose: The AVP, Capital Management will support the firm’s capital planning, forecasting, and strategic capital initiatives across legal entities and reporting bases. This role will partner closely with Finance, Risk, Actuarial, Investments, and senior leadership to analyze capital requirements under base case and stressed scenarios, support regulatory and rating agency needs, and execute ad hoc strategic initiatives.
The ideal candidate combines strong technical modeling capabilities with effective communication skills and the flexibility to contribute across a wide range of capital-related projects in a fast-paced environment.
Accountabilities: Capital Planning & Analysis
- Develop and maintain capital projections across multiple legal entities and bases (e.g., Bermuda, U.S. Statutory, consolidated views)
- Analyze drivers of capital movements, including earnings, market impacts, dividends, contributions, reinsurance, and transactions
- Drive quarterly and annual capital reporting, including variance analysis and management commentary
Modeling & Technical Analysis
- Build and enhance capital and balance sheet models to support business planning, stress testing, and strategic decision-making
- Drive scenario analysis and stress testing in collaboration with Risk and Actuarial partners
- Drive capital optimization analyses, including implications of new business, asset allocation changes, and strategic transactions.
Regulatory, Rating Agency & Framework Support
- Own capital management under relevant regulatory and rating agency frameworks (e.g., Bermuda EBS, VM-22, aggregation methods)
- Drive analysis of evolving regulatory and rating agency requirements and assess impacts on the firm’s capital position
- Contribute to materials and analyses used in discussions with regulators and rating agencies
Executive Reporting & Presentations
- Prepare clear, concise presentation materials for senior management and executive audiences
- Translate complex modeling outputs into actionable insights and recommendations
- Support Board- and executive-level capital reporting as needed
Special Projects & Cross-Functional Support
- Drive ad hoc and strategic projects related to capital management, transactions, reinsurance, and enterprise initiatives
- Partner with Finance, Investments, Risk, Actuarial, Treasury, and other stakeholders to support enterprise-wide objectives
- Drive process improvements, automation, and enhancements to capital analytics and reporting infrastructure
- Thought leadership on capital management framework, policies and procedures, upcoming regulatory changes
Qualifications and Experience: Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Math, Actuarial Science, Economics, or a related field
- CPA, CFA, MBA, ASA/FSA strongly preferred
Experience
- 8+ years of experience in insurance, reinsurance, asset management, or financial services, with exposure to capital management, financial modeling, or actuarial/finance functions
- Experience supporting capital projections, balance sheet analysis, or regulatory capital frameworks preferred
- Exposure to Bermuda EBS, VM-22, US aggregation method, or similar capital regimes is a strong plus.

- Strong financial and capital modeling skills, with advanced Excel proficiency
- Ability to synthesize complex quantitative analysis into clear executive-level messaging
- Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills
- Highly analytical, detail-oriented, and intellectually curious
- Flexible and adaptable, with the ability to work across a variety of projects and priorities
- Strong collaboration skills and comfort working cross-functionally in a fast-paced environment
$128,800.00 - $193,200.00 CAD Annual
Annual Salary for this role is market competitive. Actual salary for all roles will be based upon geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer.
