Position Overview: The Traffic Controller is responsible for managing traffic flow and ensuring the efficient and compliant operation of the transfer station. This position plays an important role in maintaining site safety and compliance with relevant regulations. The incumbent works closely with the operations team to manage the movement of vehicles and materials while providing excellent customer service.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Direct and manage traffic flow within the transfer station to ensure safe entry, exit, and unloading.
  • Coordinate with haulers, customers, and site staff to minimize congestion and prevent accidents.
  • Ensure compliance with site safety protocols and appropriate use of PPE.
  • Maintain awareness of health and safety regulations and contribute to a safe environment.
  • Assist in maintaining a clean, organized, and environmentally compliant transfer station.
  • Participate in site inspections, audits, and incident investigations as needed.
  • Provide clear instructions to customers and contractors on where and how to unload materials.
  • Assist with processing transactions and weigh scale operations, if required.
  • Respond to customer inquiries and concerns professionally.

Qualifications:

  • Traffic control training and/or experience managing vehicle movements on industrial sites is an asset.
  • Knowledge of Ontario’s ESA and Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA).
  • Valid G-class driver’s license.
  • Willingness and ability to travel between different sites as required.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Strong awareness of site safety protocols and best practices.
  • Excellent communication skills to coordinate with customers and colleagues.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Working Conditions:

  • Outdoor work in various weather conditions.
  • Ability to lift and move objects weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Shift work may be required, including weekends and holidays.
  • Exposure to dust, odors, and heavy machinery noise.
