The Canadian Air Transport Security Authority (CATSA) is a Crown corporation at the front line of Canada’s national security, safeguarding the traveling public through the effective and efficient screening of airport workers, air travelers and baggage at 89 airports nationwide. Playing a pivotal role in Canada’s aviation system, CATSA’s goal is to provide a professional, effective and consistent level of service across the country, and that the travelling public and CATSA’s partners benefit from the most secure aviation security screening service and the best client experience.

CATSA’s Technology Branch has embarked on an exciting period of transformation and growth. It is seeking a strategic technology leader to take on the role of Vice President and Chief Technology Officer (CTO).

Reporting to the President & CEO, the CTO oversees all matters relating to the planning, evaluation, deployment and operation of airport security screening equipment/operational technology (OT) and information technology (IT) for CATSA. Building on the organization’s considerable strengths to shape and drive CATSA’s technology vision and strategy across both OT and IT domains, the CTO leads a team of over 100 individuals that ensure seamless integration and alignment of technology with CATSA’s strategic objectives, and stakeholder needs.

As a strong candidate you bring 15+ years of progressive technology leadership experience, ideally acquired in highly operational, secure, mission critical environments. CATSA will benefit from your expertise in leading large-scale change management initiatives across complex organizations and your proven track record in managing large and diverse teams in both operational technology and information technology domains. An outstanding team builder who fosters a positive, respectful culture built on collaboration, inclusion, and integrity, you are adept at leading strategic technology planning and implementation projects while aligning organizational skills and capacity needed for the future. You bring highly developed business and operations skills and familiarity with complex organizations where public policy plays an important role in defining resources and priorities. You balance strong overall technology sector knowledge and credibility with skill in communicating to and influencing senior leadership as you make linkages to operational imperatives and objectives that align to strategic goals and objectives.
