The Infrastructure, Transportation & Parks Department is looking for a regular full-time Park Attendant to join their team. In the Park Attendant role, you will be responsible for maintenance and custodial work involving the care and upkeep of recreational areas, and overseeing the use of civic areas.

You will perform manual work entailing general maintenance, collecting litter and emptying garbage containers, cleaning washrooms, answering questions from the public regarding use of the facilities and general inquiries about matters such as sports fields, change rooms, and events. You will also patrol areas checking for vandalism, monitoring public conduct, and participating in general maintenance and construction work as required. In addition, you will liaise with event organizers and may be required to assist in the set up and take down of equipment for events.

You will have considerable knowledge of the regulations and practices governing the use, maintenance and layout of recreational areas, related experience in parks maintenance and a good knowledge of the methods, materials, tools and equipment used in general parks maintenance and construction work. A demonstrated ability to perform heavy physical manual work in all types of weather is required. This position requires someone that can fulfill its duties under minimal supervision as you will be working independently. You must also be able to communicate courteously with the public and embrace values such as teamwork, respect, a positive attitude, professionalism and integrity. A valid Class 5 BC Driver’s License is required.

Salary:
$33.82 per hour
(January 2024 rates)

Hours of Work: Any eight (8) consecutive hours, exclusive of an unpaid one-half hour meal break, between the hours of 6:30 a.m. and 12:00 a.m., including weekend and evening work.
