Position Summary Senior Business Analyst, Finance In this position you are responsible for working on teams assigned to corporate, strategic and capital projects, as a representative of Finance and providing consultation to Managers, Directors and Vice-Presidents. Your goal in this position is to understand the financial aspects of new/proposed projects, identify key issues and use expertise and judgment to make recommendations. The Senior Business Analyst role is experienced in using financial analysis or financial modeling to evaluate proposed projects. The role requires excellent communication skills, including expertise in writing business cases, proposals and briefing notes, as well as developing effective presentations and articulating ideas during interdepartmental meetings. In this role, you will have excellent analytical, problem recognition and problem solving skills. This position supports the hospital’s academic mandate by advancing care through teaching and learning and/or transforming care through research and innovation. This position contributes to the shared responsibility of ensuring health and safety policies are followed to provide for a healthy environment for patients, staff, physicians, volunteers and families.

On a practical level, you will

  • Provide comprehensive expertise and analysis on financial information pertaining to the hospital’s major capital projects and clients’ operations.
  • Identify projects’ potential financial risks and opportunities and use expertise/judgment to provide recommendations to various levels of management.
  • Work with Managers, Directors and Vice Presidents in the development of business cases and briefing notes, including funding proposals and management of clients’ ministry reporting requirements.
  • Manage various programs/departments financial and statistical data to ensure quality and accuracy.
  • Work with Managers, Directors and Vice Presidents in the development of financial budget (operating and capital) and the monitoring of the client’s financial performance including forecast of financial results.
  • Support senior management team in strategy development.
  • Coach management on business acumen.
  • Conduct training on use of financial tools.
  • Assist with coordination of the Hospital’s Operating Budget planning process and management of the Hospital’s internal budgeting system.
  • Assist with coordination of the Hospital’s capital budget planning process and management of the Hospital’s capital budget.

Qualifications

  • University Undergraduate Business degree
  • Completion of a Master’s degree in Business Administration/Health Administration. and/or Chartered Professional Accountant designation, preferred
  • Minimum three (3) years’ experience working in a similar Financial Analyst role.
  • Experience with hospital capital projects, preferred
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
  • Familiarity with Ontario Healthcare Reporting Standards (OHRS) and Ontario Cost Distribution Model (OCDM), preferred
