What we are looking for:

This position will appeal to an experienced mental health clinician (MSW, MA - Counselling Psychology, or RN). You will be an active member of Inpatient Mental Health Services, providing assessment, therapy (individual and group), and community re-integration of mental health clients. Your responsibilities will include the role of Co-ordinator, Community Mental Health, to further develop and implement the Community Treatment Order (CTO) Program across the southern part of York Region. As a consultant, educator, and advocate for mental health clients, you will support comprehensive, community-based treatment plans, provide community training and education, and develop protocols, data and relationships with multiple stakeholders as well as liaise with these sources throughout the CTO process.

What you bring to the role:

  • Master of Social Work, or Registered Nurse (degree preferred) with C.N.A. certification in Mental Health
  • Minimum of three years’ recent experience in a mental health care setting working with clients who suffer from a serious mental illness.
  • Demonstrated current comprehensive knowledge of the revised Mental Health Act, Health Care Consent Act, Regulated Health Professions Act and other appropriate legislation.
  • Excellent clinical assessment, documentation and triage capabilities as well as a working knowledge of current mental health care trends, pharmacology and related treatment protocols.
  • Theoretical and practical knowledge of general psychiatry principles and philosophies with respect to treatment and management of clients with serious mental illness.
  • Well-developed interpersonal, communication and organizational skills with a proven collaborative approach and customer service focus.
  • Proficient computer skills; preferably with MS Office.
  • Must possess a valid Ontario driver’s license and own dependable vehicle.
  • Knowledge of community services within York Region a definite asset.
  • Demonstrated good attendance record with the ability to maintain this same standard
  • Demonstrated commitment to a safe environment for staff, patients and families by working in compliance with the Occupational Health & Safety Act and related Hospital policies.
