About the role
Our client, a specialty packaging facility focusing on design, manufacturing and distribution of custom paperboard cartons and folding cartons is currently looking for a mid level pre press technician.
Core Responsibilities
File Preflighting: Review customer files for correct fonts, bleeds, margins, and image resolution. Imposition and Layout: Arrange and format multiple page layouts onto single sheets to optimize efficiency. Color Management: Adjust color profiles, densities, and separations to match target print substrates. Proofing: Generate digital or physical mockups/proofs for client review and approval. Platemaking: Operate Computer-to-Plate (CTP) systems or imaging equipment to produce printing plates. Troubleshooting: Diagnose and fix corrupted files, missing elements, or formatting errors.
Required Skills and Qualifications
Software Proficiency: Advanced knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Acrobat). Technical Knowledge: Understanding of print production workflows, dot gain, and color models (CMYK/Pantone). Attention to Detail: High visual accuracy to spot alignment or color discrepancies early. Education & Experience: Typically requires a high school diploma alongside 1 to 3 years of hands-on prepress or graphic arts experience, or a technical certificate in print technology.
