Job Summary and Requirements

The Finance and Information Management Branch manages the internal financial, systems and records activities for the department in order to support branches in meeting operational requirements. We provide direction, guidance and support services to all program areas to assist the department in achieving its vision of a sustainable and diversified economy for Yukon.

Reporting to the Supervisor of Financial Operations, the Senior Accounting Clerk is responsible for providing high-level financial and administrative services to the branch and the department, including preparing, processing, analyzing, tracking, and reconciling financial transactions and financial systems (including but not limited to accounts payable, accounts receivable, financial coding, and signing authorities. This position also researches, analyzes, and compiles information on and in support of O&M and Capital budget preparations, projections, and variances.

This position is best suited to someone who is motivated, enjoys multi-tasking, works well in a team environment, and can work within tight deadlines.

Essential Qualifications

Please submit your resume clearly demonstrating how you meet the following qualifications, and specifically how your work experiences and related duties align with the essential qualifications shown below. Ensure a month/year format is used for each work experience. Note that selection for further consideration will be based solely on the information you provide in your resume.

  • Coursework in bookkeeping, accounting, or a related field.
  • Significant experience managing accounts receivable and accounts payable, preferably within a public sector organization or similarly large organization.
  • Significant experience preparing various financial reports and reconciliations.
  • Significant experience using various computerized financial systems, preferably within a public sector organization or similarly large organization.
  • Experience reviewing funding agreements and contracts with complex deliverables and high funding amounts.

Candidates who have education, training, and/or experience equivalent to the essential qualifications listed above will be equally considered.
