Food Safety & Quality Auditor Summary We’re a naan traditional company…
- The Food Safety and Quality Auditor reports to the Director of Compliance and Food Safety Auditing of NA. The Food Safety and Quality Auditor will ensure, by performing the sites internal audit, the site effort to develop its HACCP Plan and to develop, implement, and maintain a HACCP/BRCGS system, meets regulatory requirements and compliance to all relevant customer standards for the assigned site. This position will also be responsible for supporting the QA Program Lead on all external and internal audits to ensure that we are continuously striving to be audit ready 365. This role will also take on the responsibility of project leads as assigned by the Director of Compliance and Food Safety Auditing of NA as needed to ensure the company food safety and quality program is continuously improved.

Internal & External Audits

Plan, schedule, and execute quarterly internal audits (medium and high risk) including onsite inspections, documentation reviews, summarize audit findings, audit reporting, and CAPA review for assigned facilities.

Support QA Program Lead during external audits such as BRCGS, CFIA, customer-initiated, and other regulatory audits.

Prioritize audit focus areas based on review of food safety red flags, customer complaints, KPI performance (scorecard) prior to audit planning.

Ensure timely closure of corrective actions arising from internal, external, supplier or regulatory audits.

Communicate effectively with the sites/suppliers following the audits and demonstrate a high level of Quality and Integrity in your daily responsibilities as an auditor.
Compliance & Documentation
- Review relevant documentation and conduct floor inspections to ensure site readiness prior to any external audits.
- Verify compliance with applicable regulatory requirements (CFIA, Health Canada, USDA, FDA, BRCGS).
- Maintain and update corporate SOPs, forms, and records following regulatory changes, HACCP reassessment, process changes, or new product/equipment implementation.
- Edit and upload corporate documentation to the Black Box system, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
Food Safety & HACCP Program
- Maintain HACCP, BRCGS, and pre-requisite programs through scheduled audits, monitoring, validation, and verification activities.
- Stay current on updates to BRCGS standards, food safety regulations, and industry best practices.
Training & Team Support
- Conduct annual and as-needed training on updated corporate policies, SOPs, and records..
- Foster a hygienic, safe, and positive working environment in accordance with company and regulatory standards.
Supplier & Third-Party Oversight
- Conduct supplier audits in collaboration with the Director of Compliance and Food Safety Auditing of NA.
Other Duties
- Perform additional tasks and responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Compliance and Food Safety Auditing of NA.
Qualifications & Skills:

Education & Certifications
-
Bachelor’s degree in food science or related post-secondary education (required).
-
HACCP and GFSI ( e.g. BRCGS/SQF) training certificate (required).
-
Internal Auditor Certification is required.
-
GFSI program implementation and maintenance experience (e.g., BRCGS, SQF).
Experience
- 3-5 years of hands-on experience in Quality Assurance within the food manufacturing industry.
- Strong background in developing and maintaining QA programs, including BRCGS, HACCP, FSMA, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
Skills & Competencies
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- High level of attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Proven ability to solve problems and adapt in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrated continuous improvement mindset and initiative.
- Strong drive to ensure regulatory and corporate compliance.
- Open-minded, collaborative, and results-oriented team player.
- Project manager to complete projects to enhance the food safety and quality program
Other Requirements
- Mandatory requirement to travel across Canada and the United States as required.
- Flexibility to work across multiple facilities or bakery locations.
- Must have a valid driver license (G2/G) and has access to a car
