About the role

Job Description:

In accordance with the Vision, Purpose, and Values, and strategic direction of the Vancouver Island Health Authority, patient safety is a priority and a responsibility shared by everyone at VIHA; as such, the requirement to continuously improve quality and safety is inherent in all aspects of this position.

Reporting to the Manager or designate, provides social work intake services and counselling to clients to assist in meeting the psychosocial needs of clients and to enable clients to utilize medical care in order to achieve their optimal level of health, Prepares intake assessments and participates in multi-disciplinary teamwork, liaises with and obtains resources from community social health and welfare agencies. Clinical guidance/instruction is available from the Senior Therapist.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education, Training And Experience

Degree in Social Work.Current full registration with the BC College of Social Workers . Familiarity/experience with application of Family-Centred practice. Good understanding of community health, welfare, and social agencies. Basic knowledge and experience of intake process and multi-disciplinary teamwork.

  • Ability to use initiative and exercise judgement.

  • Ability to establish priorities and organize workload.

  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a team.

  • Knowledge of group processes and ability to apply facilitation techniques.

  • Ability to operate related equipment.

  • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
