About the role
Millar Western’s Quesnel River Pulp Division is seeking two motivated Lab Technologists to join the Technical Department — one in a full-time position and one in a casual role.
The successful candidates will be responsible for conducting testing for process evaluation studies and monitoring pulp quality. Working closely with process engineers and production operators, you will help ensure the final product meets customer quality requirements. Your duties will also include calibrating and maintaining test equipment. Over time, you will develop competencies to provide coverage in other areas of the Technical Department, such as chip testing and water treatment testing.
The Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to safety, with a keen eye for precision and accuracy in analyzing and reporting results. They will possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including technical writing abilities. Flexibility is required, as the role involves working nights, weekends, and various shift schedules.
Qualifications include a B.Sc. in Science or a two-year diploma in a chemical or instrumentation-focused Technology Program. Proven experience in environmental or chemical lab work and with lab instrumentation is required, along with strong organizational skills, a Class 5 Driver’s License, and proficiency with computerized systems. The ideal candidate will also have the ability to analyze data using statistical methods and take a proactive, detail-oriented approach to their work.
