Description The Buyer will support the procurement team by executing day to day purchasing activities. Reporting to the Director of Procurement, this role encompasses administrative tasks such as vendor onboarding, supplier communication, issuing of Request for Quotations (RFQ) and Request for Proposals (RFP), creating purchase orders, and accounts payable (AP) and warehouse coordination. The Buyer will enhance procurement responsiveness and ensure business continuity in a fast-paced dynamic environment.
LOCATION
NexGen Energy Saskatoon Operations Office.
Priority area candidates will be considered for a hybrid/remote option.
Key Responsibilities (including but not limited to):
- Conduct material buying, including sourcing goods, day-to-day site-based purchasing activities, and obtaining price quotes in accordance with NexGen’s policies and procedures.
- Evaluate vendor quotes to identify the most desirable suppliers and validate that the correct goods are being offered.
- Issue Purchase Orders, confirm orders, and maintain follow-up communication.
- Expedite supplies to ensure proper and timely delivery.
- Resolve invoice issues with suppliers and NexGen’s Accounts Payable team.
- Coordinate shipments by communicating with NexGen warehouse personnel.
- Maintain positive and effective supplier relationships.
- Organize, update, and maintain the purchasing database.
- Collaborate with NexGen’s Indigenous Partners through the BON (Business Opportunity Notification) process.
- Develop and manage NexGen’s approved supplier list.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise REQUIRED
- Post-secondary education in supply chain management, procurement, or a related field. A combination of education and experience will be considered.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a supply chain or procurement role.
- Demonstrable experience using Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems, preferably SAP.
- Excellent English communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Proficiency with productivity tools such as Excel, Word, Outlook, SharePoint, and presentation software.
- Effective communication with management, coworkers, clients, vendors, contractors, and visitors.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Superior analytical and organizational skills.
PREFERRED
- Experience working in the mining/uranium industry.
- A Supply Chain Management Professional (SCMP) or another comparable designation.
