We’re looking for aSenior Lead Engineer, who will serve as a key member of the Office of the Chief Engineer and provide strategic and day-to-day technical guidance and direction across Power Delivery in the areas of Transmission and Substations, Distribution, Network and other ENMAX Power Technical Areas.
Major Responsibilities:
- Hold accountability for method of supplies, technical design, construction, equipment and material content by developing and refining standards, technical guidelines and specifications.
- Support and approve Development and refinement of Technical Guidelines and ENMAX Power Requirements
- Lead or Assist in Professional Practice Management Plan Governance and Permit Management to support the Senior Officer.
- Lead and/or support in resolving high profile project/safety/operational related escalations originated from internal and external stakeholders.
- Lead strategic changes to practices and tools as necessary for improvement.
- Approve any exceptions to current standards, guidelines, or specifications related to engineering within the scope of the PPMP. Engaging appropriate stakeholders where increased complexity exists.
- Define, develop, review, approve and govern all new engineering, construction, material or design standards, technical guidelines or specifications or modifications to the same, within ENMAX Power.
- Coach, train and provide support to internal and external stakeholders on the application of these standards, technical guidelines, and specifications.
- Review scope and execution plans for critical projects to ensure appropriate inclusion of standards, technical guidelines and specifications or approve exceptions where required.
- Audit project scopes to ensure accurate inclusion of standards, technical guidelines, and specifications.
- Lead technical innovation initiatives, including developing new method of supplies.
- Handle emergency and urgent requests related to hazards and support the asset team for condition assessment and health indices used for ranking assets
- Work closely with work methods and field services to achieve benefits for Improvement Initiatives in all standards, technical guidelines and specifications
- Collaborate with other Engineering teams to ensure the framework for the delivery of quality professional work products are current and effective as it relates to standards, technical guidelines and specifications.
- Establish and maintain strong positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders including customers, peer utilities, and industry committees.
- Support Regulatory Requirements as it relates to standards, technical guidelines and specifications including response to AUC in areas such as Capital Prudence, COS, PBR, and Capital filings as well as APEGA Practice Review Audits, QMP related audits and aspects of any other audits in-so-far as they are related the practice of engineering at ENMAX.
Education Required:
- University degree in engineering with APEGA Professional Engineer Designation
Qualifications & Experience:
- 15+ years of experience in utility engineering, with extensive exposure to power utility design, planning, and construction.
- Strong knowledge of distribution regulation and the Electric Utility Act.
- Familiarity with APEGA requirements related to engineering governance.
- Understanding of the Alberta Safety Codes Act and QMP requirements.
- Experience influencing technical direction and providing guidance across multiple stakeholders (internal and external).

- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Effective communicator across technical and non-technical audiences.
- Continuous improvement mindset (develops and implements new ideas).

**Location:**This role will be part of our hybrid (home and office) workforce with office workspace located at our South Service Center location (8820 - 52 St. S.E. Calgary, AB). You will have the option to work from home on Mondays and Fridays and will work in the office on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.
