The most important aspects of the Benefits Administrator position relate to processing benefit and disability information accurately and meeting strict timelines for the processing. The position is also responsible for providing timely benefit information to new employees, supporting employees with their group benefit inquiries, and assisting with the implementation of organization wellness programs. Ensuring that inquiries are answered promptly and accurately is key to success. Maintaining the commitment to confidentiality of information and activities of the department is imperative for this position.
What you’ll be doing:
Extended Health and Dental Administration
-
Accurately update internal systems (payroll, benefit provider), with updated benefit information for new employees, employees experiencing a life event, salary changes or career change, employees going or coming back from a leave, and terminated employees. Process adjustments/corrections as needed.

Correspond with employees about their benefit coverage.
-
Process auto debits and group RRSP contributions for employees who maintain benefits while on leave.
-
Track employee benefit selections and update data in HRIS using the member extract report.
-
Assist employees with their benefit change requests using the flex tool. Correspond with the benefit provider for support requests outside of our scope.

Update the information in the benefit provider tool using the data from HRIS.

Complete monthly billing reports for benefit provider and send to Senior Benefits & Disability Advisor for approval.
Disability Administration
-
Accurately update internal systems (payroll, benefit provider systems), internal stakeholders and external disability vendor with updated disability information for each employee on leave or returning from leave.

Review the weekly medical underwriting report for pending coverage approvals and denials. Correspond with the employee and update data in the benefit vendor system.
-
Provide billing and invoices to accounting when required.
-
Process small, short term disability claims (e.g. surgeries)
General benefit administration
-
Assist employees with questions, concerns, and requests that come through the Benefit inbox.
-
Complete periodic reports such as the Servus Paid Premiums for Retiree annual report and the Retiree Life Insurance Premium report.
-
Assist with audit of data between the benefit vendor tools, payroll systems and coverage from various vendors.
-
Assist with documenting benefit procedures.
-
Complete monthly billing reports for health, dental, AD&D, critical illness, life and disability insurance and send to Senior Benefits & Disability Consultant for approval.

Oversee the administration of the employee assistance program, including ensuring new employees are registered and existing employees are provided assistance when required.
Employee Wellness

Assist with the implementation of wellness education programs for the

Assist with researching wellness programs, organizing roll outs, etc.

Provide timely and accurate advice regarding basic office ergonomic best
What you bring:

Minimum of 1 - 3 years related experience with benefits

Ability to work effectively within a team environment, as well as

Emphasis on confidentiality of information is a requirement of the

Ability to manage, adapt and be flexible to changing priorities and a demanding
Any other special requirements necessary to do the job:
The business may from time to time ask for branch and/or department support for special projects and/or areas experiencing staff shortages. All employees may be asked to volunteer to assist in areas of need during these times. These assignments could result in a change of hours, location, and/or travel.
