About the role
This role offers an exciting opportunity to shape the visual identity of a Toronto-based landscape architecture studio through an ongoing editorial series for Instagram. The focus is on capturing the craft, people, and processes behind diverse landscape projects, including nursery growers, plant producers, craftspeople, and builders. The ideal candidate will bring a strong editorial sensibility to both video and photo content, working closely with the founder to develop a consistent and compelling visual language. The position is project-based with the potential for ongoing collaboration and requires a hybrid approach, combining on-site shoots around Toronto with remote editing.
Deliverables
- Capture short-form cinematic video content on-site at various locations in Toronto, highlighting behind-the-scenes site work and the people involved in landscape creation.
- Edit video footage for Instagram Reels, ensuring content is engaging, visually cohesive, and optimized for social media.
- Prepare and retouch still images for use on Instagram and other digital platforms.
- Collaborate with the founder to establish and maintain a consistent visual style and narrative across all editorial content.
- Deliver final assets in required formats and within agreed timelines.
Requirements
- Proven experience in cinematography, with a strong portfolio demonstrating editorial storytelling for digital and social media platforms.
- Proficiency in video and photo editing software such as Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects, Lightroom, and Photoshop.
- Ability to shoot and edit high-quality short-form video content tailored for Instagram Reels.
- Strong visual and narrative sensibility, with an eye for detail and composition.
- Experience working on-site and adapting to dynamic, real-world environments.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate with creative teams.
- Based in or able to travel to Toronto for on-site shoots; hybrid work model (on-site and remote editing).
- Reliable, self-motivated, and able to manage project-based timelines.
