The ideal candidate will be confident, professional, optimistic and energetic, must be customer service focused and be committed to our organization and values. The Building Custodian must exercise tact and diplomacy when dealing with CHC customers and represent CHC in a positive manner.
As a member of the Zone team and under the supervision of the Tenant Service Manager, the Building Custodian is responsible for carrying out general custodial duties and minor maintenance tasks throughout assigned neighbourhoods.
Duties and Responsibilities

Cleaning floors and/or carpets in common areas, stripping, sealing and waxing floors.

Cleaning stairwells, hallways, walls and windows.

Show apartments to prospective tenants.
-
Complete minor plumbing, carpentry and electrical repairs.

Cleaning snow and ice form walkways and steps, sanding and salting in the winter, and other seasonal general clean ups.

Report resident incidents/complaints and maintenance problems to the Tenant Service Manager.

Assist in security of the tenants and buildings; maintain general checks of fire and elevator logbooks.

Assist the Tenant Service Manager with inspections, quality control or other tasks.

Other duties as assigned from time to time.
Minimum Qualifications
-
High school diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED).
-
Knowledge of modern janitorial procedures, methods and equipment.

Display a proven ability to work well in a situation with minimum supervision, prioritize tasks on an ongoing basis and be customer service focused.

Demonstrate the ability to complete minor plumbing, electrical and carpentry repairs.

Proficient in the use of equipment and tools and familiar with safety procedures.

Proven experience working tactfully and resourcefully with clients, co-workers, and supervisors.

Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing.

Complete and participate in, internal training and hold Certifications as required by the employer (ie. WHMIS; ESA; Fall Arrest, etc.), CHC will arrange required training.
This is a Bargaining Unit position; you will be required to work in a smoke-free environment.
