About the role
Overview Hexagon Autonomous Solutions is looking for a talented Perception Chief Engineer to lead our perception program team developing a situational awareness platform from conception to production and deployment ready. This role will serve as a key leader within the core autonomy division, ensuring program execution, delivering on strategic objectives, and driving cross-functional alignment across Hexagon Autonomous Solutions. The ideal candidate will have exceptional skills in leadership, machine learning and computer vision, and a proven track record of managing complex technology programs throughout all business phases from ideation to delivery.
The Location: Hexagon is a global company with offices around the world. This position can be based in any of the Hexagon Autonomous Solutions locations.
Responsibilities As our Perception Chief Engineer , you would be responsible for:
Program Leadership
- Defining the overall perception platform architecture to support business requirements
- Partnering with executive leadership team to guide the resourcing decisions and financial investments in new technology
- Translating program objectives into engineering priorities and direct functional teams accordingly.
- Prioritizing allocation of engineering resources across disciplines in alignment with technical risk and program needs.
- Setting technical milestones, gate reviews, and readiness criteria for design, testing, and validation.
- Leading design reviews, risk assessments, and technical change boards.
- Leading cross department collaboration amongst other divisional engineering and operations teams ensuring production readiness
- Acting as the primary point of contact for program status to exec team including program achievements, schedule, risks, cost.
- Communicating clearly and in a timely manner with stakeholders at all organizational levels.
Technology Leadership
- Approving system-level technical requirements and performance targets to ensure customer satisfaction, proposing changes to design teams as needed.
- Approving release of all technical specifications, architectures, and trade study outcomes.
- Serving as final authority for resolving technical issues, requirement interpretations, and design conflicts.
- Ensuring compliance with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and company engineering policies.
People Leadership
- Defining and implementing optimal organizational structure to support business objectives
- Fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Providing functional management to engineering team leaders
- Building, mentoring, and managing a high-performing team
- Providing regular feedback and professional development opportunities for team members.
- Defining and measuring the KPI objectives of the team
Qualifications Must-Have:
- Masters Degree or PhD in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Robotics or a related field
- 10+ years of experience leading engineering teams either formally as a manager or informally as a project leader
- Experience building and/or optimizing machine vision algorithms
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Proven track record of deploying camera, radar, or lidar perception in autonomous vehicles
Key Success Factors:

- Experience working with computer vision algorithms
