A career as a Senior Legal Advisor in the Capital Markets Legal Documentation team means acting as a specialist on legal aspects related to trading activities and financial operations. This job allows you to make a direct impact on our organization thanks to your expertise in derivatives law and negotiation of complex financial agreements.
You can work from our Montreal or Toronto office, whichever is closest to you.
Your role
- 
Draft and negotiate key transactional financial agreements such as the ISDA Master Agreement, GMRA, and GMSLA. 
- 
Provide legal opinions and strategic recommendations to protect the Bank’s interests globally. 
- 
Advise Capital Markets and Capital Management teams on derivatives, debt instruments, and structured products. 
- 
Identify legal issues affecting financial contracts and propose practical solutions. 
- 
Contribute to major projects with significant impact on the Bank’s activities worldwide. 
Your team
Within the Capital Markets and Treasury Risk Management sector, you will join a team of 9 lawyers and one paralegal working closely with desks in Montreal, Toronto, Calgary, New York, Dublin, London, and Hong Kong. Our mission is to deliver high-quality legal support and negotiate key financial agreements with clients internationally.

Prerequisites
- Bachelor’s degree in law and at least 10 years of relevant experience.
- Member of the Quebec Bar or any Canadian law society.
- Proven experience negotiating ISDA, GMRA, and GMSLA agreements.
- Strong knowledge of financial transactions law and derivatives law.
- Familiarity with margin requirements for non-centrally cleared derivatives in Canada and the U.S.
- Bilingualism is not required for candidates located in Toronto; proficiency in spoken and written English is essential.

English, French
Reason to require this language: you will need to work closely with our colleagues outside Quebec.
