Position Overview Applications are invited for the Seasonal Winter position of Casual Airport Maintenance Person in the Public Works Department. This position runs from October 1 until April 30 and may be extended depending on operational requirements. Training would start as soon as possible.
Required Qualifications
- Grade 12 or equivalent.
- Must possess Power Mobile Equipment theory training.
- Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License relevant to airport equipment type. (Minimum Class 5 A)
- Must possess and maintain an Industry Canada - Restricted Operator Certificate – Aeronautical. (Radio Licence)
- Must possess and maintain an Airside Vehicle Operator's Permit (AVOP).
Principle Duties & Responsibilities
- Maintain airfield operating surfaces, runways, taxiways, aircraft parking aprons and grassed areas on both airside and groundside in accordance with surface maintenance manuals.
- Maintain surface and subsurface drainage systems associated with aircraft operating surfaces.
- Maintain access and service roads and parking lots and associated fences and signs on both airside and groundside.
- Maintenance and monitoring of landscaping and exterior of all airside and groundside buildings/structures.
- Preparation and maintenance of records and reports respecting airfield conditions, fuel management, vehicles and equipment, the Field Electrical Centre and other buildings and structures as required on a regular basis.
- Perform daily janitorial duties.
- Perform security duties for the airside. This does not include hold baggage and passenger screening.
- Follow Acts, Regulations, Bylaws, Agreements, policies and procedures.
- Follow the Act, Regulations and policies of Occupational Health and Safety.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Special Conditions (required within proving period)
- Security Background Check Required.
- Airport operations certifications TP312, AMSCR, CFRI, Certification cannot be expired within 3 months of non-airport operational work.
- Site Specific Certification in all equipment required for Airport operations.
- Must possess and maintain certification in Human Factors, Runway conditions reporting, Safety Management, Emergency Response and Wildlife Management.
- Must possess and maintain a Pesticide Applicator's License as issued by the Department of Agriculture in both Landscape and Structural classifications.
- Must possess and maintain a Firearm's Possession and Acquisition License and Hunter Safety Certificate.
- Must possess and maintain a valid Level "C" CPR and Standard First Aid Certificate
- Must possess and maintain a Fire Extinguisher Operators Course.
- Must be willing to take applicable safety and job-related programs, courses, and medical shots.
