- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 8 years of experience with software development.
- 5 years of experience in a people management, supervision/team leadership role.
- Experience in Machine Learning Infrastructure.
- Experience in AI and machine learning, including generative AI and LLMs.
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience building complex software systems involving deep learning and Large Language Models (LLM).
- Experience delivering scalable and high-quality ML solutions.
- Experience delivering scalable and high-quality ML solutions with a proven track record of publication at ML conferences and journals.
- Familiarity with training and evaluating Large Language Models (LLMs) and other generative AI systems.

The Actor Safety Foundational Modeling (ASFM) team's mission is to protect Google Ads users from harm by building the core models and infrastructure that enable the detection and prevention of abusive behavior. We do this by developing AI/ML models to deeply understand the behavior of advertisers in the Google Ads ecosystem. We provide infrastructure creating robust, scalable infrastructure that allows our detection and enforcement teams to identify and act on bad actors quickly/effectively. We innovate and rapidly deploy new solutions to ensure we are always one step ahead of those who seek to abuse our platform.

We’re made up of multiple teams, building Google’s Advertising products including search, display, shopping, travel and video advertising, as well as analytics. The US base salary range for this full-time position is $248,000-$349,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities
- Recruit, hire, and mentor a team of applied scientists and developers, helping them grow.
- Define your team's long-term plan, turning business goals into practical and scalable AI/ML solutions.
- Guide your team in building, testing, and launching machine learning models from start to finish.
- Work with business and product leaders to find the best opportunities and ensure our solutions directly improve key results.
- Implement the best methods and tools for quickly building and scaling our machine learning models. Explain complex technical ideas to both executive leaders and people without a technical background.
