About the role

We are hiring for this position out of our Vancouver office. Successful candidates who apply outside of these areas will be expected to relocate and reside in a location that is within a commutable distance.

About the role:

The QA Automation Engineer plays a key role in ensuring the reliability, performance, and scalability of Peoples Group’s technology solutions. This role is 100% focused on automation and requires strong technical expertise in Core Java, Python, Bitbucket, GitHub, and API testing. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to design, implement, and maintain automated testing frameworks that support continuous integration and delivery.

About the day-to-day:

  • Collaborate with Product Owners to understand high-level requirements and capture business needs.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to gather, document, and analyze business and system requirements.
  • Conduct detailed business process analysis and develop process flow diagrams, user stories, functional specifications, and use cases.
  • Obtain key inputs from SMEs, Architects, and dependent teams to identify solution interdependencies and conduct system/data mapping.
  • Develop detailed user stories and acceptance criteria in collaboration with the Product Owner.
  • Liaise between business users and technical teams, translating business needs into technical specifications.
  • Design and implement automated test scripts and frameworks using Java and Python.
  • Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines using Bitbucket and GitHub.
  • Perform API testing and validation to ensure seamless integration and functionality.
  • Use tools such as Jira and Confluence to manage and track project requirements, tasks, and documentation.
  • Collaborate with your Squad (developers, testers, DevOps) to refine, estimate, build, test, and launch product features.
  • Participate in design reviews and walk-throughs to communicate system designs and validate proposed solutions.
  • Deliver presentations and demonstrations of new product functionality to stakeholders and clients.
  • Provide support during system implementation, including user training and post-implementation activities.

About the qualifications:

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in quality engineering, test automation, or software development.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Core Java, Python, Bitbucket, GitHub, and API testing.
  • Proven experience designing and implementing automated testing frameworks.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD tools and practices.
  • Experience with Agile methodologies and tools such as Jira and Confluence.
  • Solid understanding of business process modeling and system design.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience working with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud) is an asset.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.

About the work environment:

Peoples Group offers a flexible and hybrid work environment. In this role you will work a combination of in-office and remotely from home. Typically, you'll be working regular business hours, Monday to Friday between 8:00am and 4:30pm with flexibility around start/end times

Compensation:

Peoples Group is pleased to offer employees a competitive annual salary plus a discretionary profit share opportunity. Salary for this position will vary between $95,000 and $105,000 per year depending on the knowledge, skills, abilities and experience that the chosen candidate possesses.
