About the role

DECAST is leading the Canadian infrastructure market, including water transmission, bridges, storm and sanitary, tunneling and engineered precast products. With nearly 700 employees, DECAST's state-of-the art manufacturing facility is one of the most technologically advanced in the world with the most extensive product line portfolio in the industry. Since 1989, the company has continually expanded, adding new products, and entering new markets. Today, DECAST is the largest manufacturing facility for infrastructure products in Canada.

We are looking for an experienced Form Technician to join our team in Utopia, ON. The Form Technician is responsible for service & repair welding, prototype building, and fitter welding. This position also requires the fabrication of custom prototypes from supplied drawings, fabrication of custom jigs and fixtures to produce production parts that meet customer specifications, as well as the fabrication of metal mold structures in a high paced concrete manufacturing environment.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret blueprints and mechanical drawings

  • Work effectively on a team as well as on an individual basis while maintaining tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment

  • Cleaning & washing production forms daily

  • Set up the day to day production forms, chip excess concrete and install vibrators on forms

  • Form fabrication and welding repairs of production form

  • Fabricate new forms

  • Assist maintenance with mechanical repairs/ maintenance welder when required

  • 80% production set up 20% welding fabrication

  • Maintenance of equipment in a condition that follows proper LOTO procedures in accordance with our Health and Safety Policy/Procedure and the OHSA

  • Create and record all work completed on a work order using our MP2 CMMS

  • Maintain inventory spare parts, requesting parts to be replenished as required

  • Maintain a clean and organized work area

Skills, Education & Experience

  • Ability to read mechanical drawings and blueprints with strong attention to detail

  • Welding experience is an asset but not required

  • Familiar with the use of MIG, Stick, all positions

  • Able to use wide variety of hand tools and equipment

  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
